RIDER TIME

Chapter 7: Down Time In Threes

------2001-----

Time Turner stood in front of a window, overlooking a secured testing room. He had been in Canterlot, working with the Princesses and the Guard to develop their own tech, in hopes they didn't have to keep relying solely on Zi-O.

"Test Subject, now entering the chamber, beginning Adaptive Driver test." Time Turner announced. An orange guardstallion with a blue mane entered the room, wearing a belt similar to the one Zi-O used, but smaller.

"Begin test for Kamen Rider G3." He said, the stallion hesitating.

"Why am I doing this again?" He asked the doctor.

"Well, Prince Armor recommended you for this, most likely since you were making passes at his sister. You should know better, private Flash Sentry." The doctor replied. Private Sentry sighed. He knew that Shining Armor was acting out of big brother instinct, but being a guinea pig for a potentially dangerous system? That was a bit excessive.

"Please begin, Private Sentry. Like we talked about." Private Sentry sighed and picked up the device in front of him. It resembled a digital watch, as opposed to Zi-O's analog watches. He pressed the button on it.

"G3!" It rang out. Private Sentry slotted the watch into the belt. "ADAPT G3!" The belt announced.

"Henshin!" Private Sentry shouted, but was immediately shocked by the watch. The watch shot out of the belt, with Private Sentry collapsing onto the floor. He let out a cough.

"G3, needs work." Time Turner wrote. He turned his attention to the shocked soldier. "Buck up, Private! We've got a lot more AdapterWatches to test!" he said with a noticeable joy in his voice. Private Sentry groaned.

Tom and friends were out in a field today, the girls and Spike having a picnic and Tom training with his Ride Striker.

"Hey, I think I'm getting the hang of it!" Tom yelled to his friends...as he crashed into a rock and was sent flying into a tree. The ponies cringed a bit at the scene.

"Um...Tom, darling, maybe you should take a break?" Rarity suggested. Tom pulled himself together and brushed himself off, mounting his bike again.

"Don't worry about it, Rarity- I need to learn to use this thing, and no time like the present!" He said, driving around again...before ending up in a nearby pond. 'At least I doubt anyone else is having a hard time today...' He thought to himself.

-----2002-----

"Begin test for Knight." Time Turner announced. Flash Sentry picked up the watch, and pressed the button.

"KNIGHT!" Sounded the watch, as Private Sentry slotted it in. Suddenly, a large mechanical bat swooped down and picked up Flash Sentry in its claws, flying away.

"HEEEEEEELP!!!" Private Sentry cried, Time Turner shaking his head and noting the failure.

It took a bit, but Tom had finally managed to get a good handle on his bike. He had been taking a break...while Fluttershy patched up the injuries he had gotten.

"At least you were wearing a helmet..." Fluttershy noted. "Still, Rider or no, please be more careful." She snuggled against Tom. "We'd all be devastated if something happened to you."

Tom was about to say something, but decided to return the kind pegasus's hug. "I'll be careful." He said, as the others all joined the hug. 'The oxygen was nice while it lasted...' Tom thought.

-----2003-----

"Begin test for Kaixa."

The Kaixa AdapterWatch hovered in front of Flash, who was hesitant to touch it.

"Private Sentry, please begin the test." Time Turner repeated.

"...do I have to?" The soldier had already been imperiled twice today.

"You know what the Prince's orders were." Time Turner reminded him.

Private Sentry sighed, and pressed the watch button.

"KAIXA!" The watch yelled, as he reluctantly slotted it into the Driver. A strange tone came out, followed by words.

"We're sorry, we cannot complete your call as dialed. Please hang up, and watch out for the laser beams." The belt said.

"Laser beams?" Flash wondered as a laser shot through the ceiling and almost hit him. More laser beams came down, Flash attempting to dodge them all.

"Poor reception." Time Turner noted, writing down the results.

------2018------

After her fight with Geiz, Celestia decided she needed some "private time" with her Rider collection. She had explicitly informed the guards outside her room not to disturb her unless it was otherwise necessary.

However, a certain super-arrogant noble didn't seem to get the message. Prince Blueblood walked down the hall to his aunt's room. He had something of utmost importance to discuss with her, that being the construction of his fourth summer home.

"Auntie Celestia!" He rang out. The guards approached him.

"Sorry, sir, but we are under strict orders to-" The guard was stopped by Blueblood covering his mouth.

"I am a prince, you daft fool! I can easily have you and your family ruined, now let me pass!" Blueblood strolled past the guards, both of them attempting to stop him.

The doors were opened, and Blueblood spotted her aunt...making out with a pillow that had a picture of a strange grasshopper-like being on it. Celestia then noticed she was being watched, her eyes turning to pinpricks.

"N-n-nephew, what is it? Is one of your demands really that important?" She asked.

"Is it any more important than your intimacy with that pillow?" Blueblood replied.

They both stood silent for a moment.

"This conversation never happened." Celestia commanded.

"Agreed." Blueblood shut the doors and left. He would be making a stop in the royal wine cellar tonight, hopefully they had a nice strong vintage.

------2004------

"Begin test for Garren."

Flash Sentry took the AdapterWatch, and pressed the button, having accepted this test would most likely also end in pain.

"GARREN!" The watch cried, Private Sentry inserting it into his belt. A large blue card depicting a spider appeared in front of him.

"Now, run through the energy card." Time Turner instructed. Sentry closed his eyes and ran at the card with full speed. The card started to flex...and then bounced him back off into a wall. Flash slid down the wall, in pain.

"Just one more, then we can stop for today." Time Turner said.

"Joy..." Sentry wheezed out.

Princess Luna was waking up, as she did in the afternoons. She raised the moon at night, and protected the dreams of the land, so her sleeping in wasn't unheard of.

Recently, some of her subjects' dreams had been unusual, featuring a strange armored warrior rescuing them from monsters. She was unsure what it meant, but she knew her sister would inform her of any goings on. As it happened, Celestia was heading down the hall herself, about to turn in.

"Good afternoon, Lulu." Celestia greeted her sister with the nickname she had when they were fillies.

"To you as well, Tia. Tell me, have there been any goings on recently?" She asked.

"Ah, right...well, the castle was attacked earlier." Luna suddenly became alarmed when she heard this.

"Attacked!? By whom!? Were there any injuries!?" She started panicking. Celestia put her hand on her worried sister's shoulder.

"Do not worry yourself, dear sister. I myself dealt with the problem earlier." The sun princess reassured her lunar counterpart.

"I...see...we also have an inquiry to make. The dreams of our subjects seem to be starting to have a common thread as of late." Luna started.

"Oh?" Celestia had a feeling she knew what Luna was about to ask. "Do tell."

"A good amount of them recently have featured a strange, silver armored warrior riding a strange bicycle-like vehicle, and defeating monsters with an aerial kick." Luna explained. Celestia smiled a bit.

"So, Kamen Rider Zi-O has had a positive impact after all." She said smiling.

"Kamen...Rider? What is this Kamen Rider?" Luna asked. Celestia knew that Luna would most likely not know anything about it, having been trapped on the moon during the time she had discovered those wonderful discs.

"Luna, my sister...prepare yourself for the greatest tale ever told."

-----2005-----

"Last test today, begin test for Ibuki."

Flash Sentry was relieved that this was the last one, hopefully it wouldn't be too bad. He pressed the button.

"IBUKI!" The watch cried, Sentry following the procedure. At that time, he felt something starting to squeeze his body...he let out a cry of pain, Time Turner only wincing as he saw.

"Um...good work today, Private Sentry...why don't you head back to the barracks now?" Time Turner said nervously.

Flash Sentry walked down the hall to the Guard Quarters, receiving many stares from the castle staff he passed. It was obvious to him WHY they were staring too. He opened the doors to the Guard's dining room, and all the Guards turned to look at him...some of them started chuckling at their comrade's predicament.

Flash Sentry's upper body had been run through a giant trumpet! His head stuck out the end, with his lower half barely making it out of the reed. "Yeah, yeah, laugh it up." He retorted. "5 watches down...15 to go." He whimpered.

-----2018------

"So, what's the Rider series we're watching tonight?" Pinkie asked. They had decided to watch as much as they could, so Rider viewings were held every couple of evenings.

"Well, all the bike stuff today reminded me of a unique Rider who uses a different type of vehicle other than a bike." He started. "Tonight, we're watching Kamen Rider Drive."

"Drive?" Applejack asked.

"Instead of a motorcycle, this Rider drives a racecar. He's a police detective who fights against mechanical monsters called Roidmudes, who can slow down time for things around them." Twilight was fascinated by the concept; a Rider who drove a car and fought mechanical enemies?

"Tom, you should go on ahead and get everything ready. We'll catch up." Rainbow Dash suggested, as the rider, Starlight and Spike went ahead, the group doing another straw-drawing round.

A short while later, everything was ready. Tom had shown Spike what a car looked like, so he made some car-themed snacks tonight, including a car-shaped cake he made with Pinkie's assistance. Tom took his usual seat, with both Applejack AND Rainbow Dash cuddling up to him. 'Wait, aren't these two already in a relationship with each other?' He pondered.

The winner of today's draw was Applejack. Though...she looked at her pegasus marefriend as well.

"If it's alright with y'all, ah'd like Rainbow to join me this time." Applejack requested.

"You mean...both of you sitting next to Tom?" Fluttershy asked.

Twilight mulled it over. "Well...you two are already dating...I guess that makes sense."

"Well, alright then. Start your engines, everypony!" Tom exclaimed, starting up Kamen Rider Drive.

On the Tridoron:

"That thing is sooooo cool! It's like a carriage, but 1000 times more awesome!" -Rainbow Dash

On the Slowdown effect:

"I can see why everyone in the show is so scared of it. I mean, that effect would just cause so many problems!" -Twilight

"I'm still kinda confused, if time is slowed down, wouldn't their brains be affected too?" - Starlight

"Um...I'm fine with taking it slow...it does look rather uncomfortable however..." -Fluttershy

On the Shift Cars:

"I'm kind of iffy on those; I mean the big car is cool, but those little ones just look like toys!" -Rainbow Dash

"The little cars were neato! I really liked the one that made the slot machine, that was funny!" -Pinkie

"I do admit some of the little cars had interesting designs, but I didn't really care for them much." -Rarity

On the Roidmudes:

"I feel really bad for Heart...that meanie Banno took out his frustration on him, no wonder he's not fond of humans." -Fluttershy

"Some of them were monsters, yes, but I still feel pity for the good ones that had to die too." -Rarity

"It's a fascinating moral question; what's the line between the humans and the Roidmudes? Could they have been friends if Banno hadn't mistreated them?" -Twilight

Overall thoughts:

"It was much faster than Wizard, that's for sure." -Rainbow Dash

"If there's anythin' I really liked about this show, it's the fancy cars- I dunno why but they just seem right ta me." -Applejack

"It wasn't my cup of tea, style-wise, although I do think what happened to Chase was a terrible tragedy." -Rarity

"Poor Chase...he went through so much and Go was only nice to him after he died..." -Fluttershy

"It was fun to see some of the silly things the team did when they weren't in action, but I still feel bad for Chase and Mr. Belt." - Pinkie.

"The more science-based leaning was rather interesting! Maybe one day sentient machines would be a reality." -Twilight

"It was a little heavier than the last one, but I still enjoyed it." Starlight
