I like writing about the worst day of a character's life; it lets us see the mettle inside. (Pronouns: RB/20 )

    Some books I love

I haven't produced much content lately. Just not feeling "pony." Been working on some space opera I might post to Royal Road or Amazon or something someday.

In light of my recent lack of content, have some of my favorite books:

Me: What did you learn in school today?

Kid: We learned about "SPQR" in ancient Rome.

    Wife: What?

    Me: Don't worry about it.

    Always worth a re-read

I just re-read, for the sixth or eighth time, one of my all time favorite books:
Neptune's Inferno: The U.S. Navy at Guadalcanal, James D. Hornfischer

Found an interesting AI article · 10:47am Apr 17th, 2023

I'm writing another E-rated pony-on-Earth story; here Sweetie Belle is playing a board game with a human child. I've written the scene as checkers as a place holder, but I've been trying to think of a more interesting choice.

A little bit of Google led me to this interesting article:

Heck!

First time learning about Stratego?

My friend, back when we were kids, played this a lot growing up. He was so good at the game, there would be times where he would reveal his flag before we started and say "here it is...try and get it." And nobody could beat him!

Too good!

Nah, I loved Stratego growing up. I was just impressed at the AI kicking the human's asses.

I remember when AlphaZero showed up and beat the strongest chess engine at the time, Stockfish (I don't remember which version was that, but Stockfish has come back on top since then, when new versions also incorporated neural networks). Seems Deep Mind moved on to more challenging games.
