    Lunar Plight - Final Mix

Lunar Plight - Final Mix is officially out! The first two chapters make up a complete prologue that hopefully acts as a proper preview to the tone and style of the story.

    Midnight Writing Moment

So the plan of publishing the rebooted story within the month of April is still on, but the prologue consists of two chapters. The first chapter is done aside from a once over to correct grammar, spelling, etc.

    Undergoin' renovations!

I'd like to start off by saying that I'm very happy to be back in the community again. Having just rewatched season one, it's sort of reinvigorated my passion for writing.

    Any Advice?

So I'm having a touch of trouble.
A character I'm really hyped for has been planned for the story from the start, but the reveal and the character are so out of left field that I'm afraid it might scare off readers or seemed shoed in.

I'm trying to figure this out but I'm scratching my head each time I crack open the text file. Any advice?

New chapter is in the way, and it's gonna be a bit longer than normal. I work every other day now, so I'm making time whenever I can.

Undergoin' renovations! · 7:16am Mar 30th, 2023

I'd like to start off by saying that I'm very happy to be back in the community again. Having just rewatched season one, it's sort of reinvigorated my passion for writing.

So I'm rebooting Lunar Plight. That's right, totally new script, totally new arcs, but the same base premise of a Final Fantasy style epic adventure across Equestria. The reason for the reboot is that I began taking the original in a different direction than I'd initially intended, and had no way of righting the course within the story itself. On top of that, about three chapters in I got my first job, limiting the amount of time I had to work on the story. I never gave up hope though, and was constantly trying to come back to it somehow, whether it be brainstorming ideas for the plot, or just full on writing segments I planned to implement later. For the past three or so years, Lunar Plight has been my untouched passion project.

Soon those ideas and segments began to become more grandiose, and they stopped fitting into Lunar Plight as it is now. Certain parts of the original took on a sillier, amateurish tone, which I ultimately didn't want. It may be a fanfiction, but as a writer, you want to see your stories take on the best form they possibly can. I began my hiatus when I realized that I had ruined the tone of the story with unneeded romantic tensions, and, for reasons I still can't understand myself, transformers.

This leads to where I stand today, with an entirely new version of Lunar Plight poised to be published within the coming weeks. So what spoiler free major changes am I making to the story? Certain characters will be heavily changed, though they'll retain their initial Final Fantasy class archetypes. On top of this, new villains will be joining the fray, both major and minor.

My goal with both this and the original story was to create a displaced fanfiction harkening back to some of the better ones I had read back around 2014 and 2015. It still falls into displaced territory, but that's blatantly obvious.

After I'm finished with the reboot, I may even go back to the original and finish it. That all depends on whether or not I can bring myself to write a story that I left alone for three years.

Thank you! Life has been hard since lockdown due to a bunch of other things happening all at once, so when your trying to work and pick up the pieces there, it can get pretty rough. I'm just excited to write again.

Just be careful if you decide on cross-overs with other Displaced as I know people aren't fund of cross-overs that happen too soon or they have no purpose in the story or worse the cross-over chapter doesn't advance the story.

So I'm actually extremely torn on crossovers. I remember we talked about this shortly after I published the original, but a lot has changed since then.

While LP will be able to stand as it's own story, I actually have a ton of ideas for sequels and spinoffs, each different from one another.

This kind of puts me in a position where if I were to do a crossover, it would probably take place in the original 2020 story.

That being said, I'm extremely tempted to finish the rewrite, and put together a story centered around being crossover friendly. It's still just an idea, but it would be heavily based on the Dissidia Final Fantasy fighting game series, and would be open ended and mostly non-canon, to give crossover writers a field to flex their muscles. I say this like anyone knows me and would bother with the idea, but I still think it would be a healthier way to do crossovers.

Good point considering Dissidia allowed alot of characters from across all the games to come and meet together.

Mot to mention being EXTREMELY fun. I hope they make another one themed around one on one battles like the original 2 games were. Not that I didn't love NT, but it just didn't feel the same.

Sadly I never played the game, I only watched videos of it.

If you have access to something you can play it on, it's definitely a recommendation.
