Hello? Is... is this thing on? The red light means it's on, right? Or do I... I have to push a button, don't I? Well, which one? There's like ten! The black one? They're all black!

    Motorboard hats look really stupid.

I got a reminder of that on Thursday, when I officially graduated from York University. But, as I was walking back to the car with my family, BSc in hand, I realized something. Maybe they're supposed to look stupid. Because I was wearing the bloody thing with pride. And if I was wearing something that stupid with pride, then I had to be really proud of myself.

I don't know how many of you have been following the New Horizons mission...

... but I have. And the stuff it's sending back is super exciting.

So There, They're has been canonized.

"It's amazing how much you can pick up when you're actually in the book!"

Please excuse me while I giggle like a schoolgirl.

Time to celebrate all things circular again.

And today's a very special pi day indeed. On a related note, I'm attempting to post this as close to 9:26 and 53 seconds as I can.

So, yeah. Grab some pie, doodle some circles, calculate the radius of the universe or something. The sky's the limit on pi day.

    Today's a special day.

Because starting today, I can go waltz across the border into the United States, walk into the first bar I see, sit down, and order a beer. And nobody will be able to do anything about it.

Then I'll stare at said beer awkwardly after remembering that I hate beer and don't drink. And then quietly ask for a virgin screwdriver or something.

Time for a good, old-fashioned rant · 2:37pm Feb 21st, 2012

You know, it seems every author has to write one of these blog posts at one point. And now, it's my turn.

And the topic of the day is: trollfics. You know, those piece of crap fics with an intentionally stupid premise, that have little to no plot flow, and generally give the impression that they were written while high, drunk or both. Those ones that are intentionally badly written for "comedic effect." Well you know what? I'm f*cking sick of it.

Some of us here actually write as a creative outlet. These trollfic writers aren't even trying. It's painfully obvious just from looking at the summary. And yet what happens? A trollfic gets featured. I'm not going to point names, but those of you who were on the site yesterday will probably know what I'm talking about. How the hell did that happen? Is everyone's taste in literature really that bad? Are people like me, who actually put a bit of effort into our stories, a complete minority?

I'm one of those people who sees trolling as more of an intellectual game; a grossly mismatched battle of wits, if you please. And you know what, trollfic writers? What you're doing isn't a battle of wits in even the loosest possible definition of the phrase. You're not funny. You don't make yourself look cool. All you do is enrage those who are actually willing to write constructively.

I know, I've just gotten up on my soapbox and raved like the unrepentant asshole I am. And you know what? It really needed to be said.

Well said, sir, well said! I know exactly which one your talking about, and I'm in the same boat. I've been trying to get my fic perfected for the past month, and then I see some of the featured stuff and it just makes me go :twilightangry2::flutterrage::facehoof:
Keep up the great work, and don't let the trolls get you down!

I think I missed something.. Can somebody fill me in..?

Lol, the trollfics to which you are referring, I hesitate to even label as such. Want to know what I would consider a true, masterful trollfic? Getting 550+ trackers, getting featured on EqD, build up a story arc that everyone generally enjoys, and then ending the fic with something like "Yo holmes, to bel-aire!" Let me know if you run across such a master troll, cuz so far I've only seen amateurs here. :trollestia:

17285 Now that is an intellectual troll. One point I forgot to address is that trollfic writers can't even be considered to be trolls. My sentiments exactly.

17246 Talking about this story

I read the story in question and while it got a chuckle out of me, I can't believe it got featured. It shouldn't have ended up there at all really. There are people that actually write to express themselves and they do a damn good job of it that don't get featured, and it's a shame that while they remain in the background, stuff like that gets featured :/
