Sometimes, Old Fandoms Never Die... · 5:46pm Dec 21st, 2022
God damn.
So, I've fallen back in love with an old favorite of mine. It took a bit to realize it, but Sonic Frontiers, Sega and Sonic Team's latest adventure for the Blue Blur and his friends and foes, solidified the fact (after intrigue was piqued through Mania and sustained by the movies). It isn't perfect, but GOD DAMN does it have that passion and excitement behind it that was severely lacking for so long. It ALMOST passes my favorite of the franchise, it's that good. I've been playing the game for over 20 hours now, 100% maps and Cyberspace portals, (seemingly) nearing the climax of the game, and it hasn't stopped yanking at my attention. Doesn't help that the boss battles are absolute killers with even deadlier music, where said tunes have been living in my head rent-free for a while now. Especially "Find Your Flame", which has had the added side effect of making me want to do a side chapter I've been poking at.
Yes, that's right. Even in the encroaching holiday and the big things I had worked on that took most of my energy prior, playing the dumb, hype as hell, ever-so slightly janky Sonic game that kinda feels like it was a granted wish from something I hoped for nearly 13 years ago, has reinvigorated my drive for writing.
God, what a pleasant way to get closer to ending the year. Here's hoping I actually finish the chapter before the new year. Wouldn't that be a treat?
