Every story in the works right now · 7:07pm Nov 3rd, 2022
I'm making a lot of blog posts lately, huh? Well, for both my benefit and for y'all to know what's going on, I decided to make another one. This will detail every active story idea I have.
So of course, I've talked about Call of the Mountain a few times. This story is finished! I still need to edit it, and Pasu needs to do cover art, and I have a couple prereaders working on it, so it's not ready ready, but it is fully written. Nothing will stop it being released in full by the end of the month! Final length is around 35k.
But what comes after? I have a few projects going on, and I thought giving them a full listing would be good.
Pony Projects:
So of course, after finishing Call of the Mountain, there has been some thought of working on the next Noodleverse story. I believe that will focus on Pinkie Pie, and like the other two, it'll be less than novel length while still being multiple chapters. 35-50k seems likely. But how likely is the story itself? I actually don't know there I know I really want to do it and talking about plans with Pasu has me excited, but I have a lot of projects to balance.
Then there's Who We Become. I talked a ton about Life in Equestria, but then while working on that story, which features Coloratura making a notable appearance, I realized I wanted to tell Rara's whole story. Currently titled Just a Pony, it'll go from Camp Friendship to the current days of WWB, ending shortly before Life in Equestria. It'll be a long one, probably four acts which should leave it around ~200k or so. I've barely started and struggled with planning it, but I have a lot of main beats figured out.
Mentioned above, there is of course Life in Equestria. That's half finished, but needs Just a Pony to be finished first. This one is at least fully planned and I should be able to come back to it once JaP is done easy enough.
I have more WWB stories planned, but those two are the only active projects that exist as more than ideas at the moment. To touch briefly, there will be a Life in Everton and a shortish Cadance side story that follows up on Coloring Outside the Lines.
Then there's a one off (maybe three chapters?) story about human Twilight going to college and meeting her former classmate, Starlight Glimmer. It's a story about two people learning what they have in common when it seems that they are very different, and of an unlikely friendship forming in that. It's WIP title is "Why This?" and a good portion of chapter one is written.
As well, I've considered retooling Torn to a different story. Largely I would keep the first chapter and concept, but take out the porn while leaving the sex. I like the sexual aspects, but the direct porn isn't appealing to me. Also, I'll rethink the nature of the dynamics in it, since the chemistry of the characters went in different directions than expected.
I've also tossed around an AU story of Fluttershy and Nightmare Moon entering a relationship. I'd like to do that someday, as writing Tension Points has me regretting that I have no standalone MLP novels. Plausibly I could turn Why This? into a novel instead, but idk.
Speaking of Tension Points...
Other Fandom Projects
So I wrote Tension Points to be a standalone story, and then I had an idea for a sequel (thedarkprep was involved). This isn't like my other series works in that this was one complete story, then the sequel will be a second complete story. Not a series, but a story and its sequel. Think of how Alien, when made, was a complete film with no intention of being part of a series at all, then Aliens was a followup sequel that was still not part of a series, but rather a matter of what comes next. Not filling in plot points that were left open, but using the original as a jumping point to make a second work. Tension Points 2 currently has nothing but ideas.
Then there's The Owl House, which I'm enamored with. There's a very notable chance depending on how it ends that I'll write a novel in that universe, but I'll have to wait and see how that ends first. I'm not interested in writing a fic for a series that's so story focused and is still in progress.
I also have another Deltarune story, Solve et Coagula, that I want to rethink. It was a for fun story that stopped being fun because I'm bad at that kind of writing, but it has a ton of cool ideas that I want to build on.
Original Fiction
Oh boy. I keep starting original novels and shifting gears...
My main original project has the WIP title of Behind These Walls, and is the first book of a planned trilogy. It focuses on a living woman who moves into a haunted house, makes friends with a ghost, and then things happen because I am who I am and it becomes a supernatural romance. It has the most detailed outline I've ever written, and one chapter is done while I'm fairly far into the second.
Prior to that, I was working on a fantasy series called The Wide World. It is a sorta high fantasy adventure series featuring a world with no humans because they're hecking boring, yo! The first story is about a faun princess and her entourage traveling during wartime.
I have one more original story actively in the works, which is about a world of sapient rabbits and starts with a story titled The Gifted Student. As the name implies, this is a de-ponification of WWB. It's more of a thematic retelling than a direct one though; I wanted my own sandbox to write queer animal-based fantasy romantic drama stories in, is what it is. There are analogs to many of the MLP characters, but they'll be shaped differently by their world.
I have one other idea, but it's not in active development. I want to write about a shy nerd girl who summons a succubus and starts a relationship with her titled Woman Seeking Succubus. Basically a demonic sex worker thing, with an extremely sex-positive, poly-friendly, and highly queer bend. This is the reason I'm thinking of rebooting Torn. I'd like to get better at writing sexual charged stories, and fanfiction is a great place to learn and grow.
I think this is everything right now, but I'll almost certainly remember other projects as I post this lmao
Print Editions
You know, the thing I always talk about? Have been talking about for years? Haven't done in ages? Well, I'm still talking about them!
The first print edition I'll have coming out is Tension Points. All the artwork is done on that, it's just waiting for me to finish editing the last third of it. I very much want it out by Christmas because that would make Noelle happy lol. All art is done by Renrink in a black-and-white sketch style (except the full-color jacket obviously). It's designed to look as much as possible like a real professional book.
Then there's Looking Glass, and oh boy, that. I need more art, and I need to edit it. I'm going to rewrite the prologue for it because I find the original prologue to be weak as hell. The idea of this one is a fandom extravaganza. Working with tons of artists doing full-color/full-page illustrations. This is on hold until I get a job simply for being able to afford all of the art for it.
And there's the Noodleverse. My current story arc plan is six chapters, one for each of the mane six. The print edition will collect all of those in two volumes. Volume I is Call of the Mountain, Heart of the Forest, and the currently untitled third story. Because this is working with an unwritten story, it'll be a while, I'm sure. It'll be illustrated by Pasu to some capacity, but what capacity is unknown.
And finally, I want to make a print anthology of all my unconnected stories. Just Like Old Times, Side by Side, Something About Sunset, etc. It'll be called Rabbit Tracks, the same name as my Fimfiction anthology but will be a short story collection of many other stories. I have enough stories for a book like that now, but I'll want to finish "Why This?" first since that can go in here (unless I do decide to make Why This? a novel). I have no ideas what to do about art on this one lol
I think that's it for print editions and stories planned! And now...
Stuff You Don't Care About
Just quickly tagging this stuff on the bottom here. I'm recording an audiobook of Tension Points, which is two thirds finished, but will need to be edited. I do not expect to do many more audiobooks after that, but I wanted to force myself to edit it that way. It's possible but unlikely I'll do more audiobooks when editing other fics for print.
And a small thing but I'm showing it off anyway, I added text to a couple old covers:
I had to learn how to do gold text for this one.
This took forever because I there's so many colors on this cover, trying to get it to pop was a pain.
I think that's everything I have to talk about! Expect another blog post hyping Call of the Mouintain, but not until I have a release date and cover to show off
eyyyyy! :D
You're gonna go far, woman!
Remember that creativity, pony, and friendship are our core elements!
