A Wild Story Appears (Almost!) · 8:03am May 14th, 2014
Yeah, so I'm being really active here. And when I should be sleeping!
Just your average flying pony with a little more to carry than his own wings can handle
Yeah, so I'm being really active here. And when I should be sleeping!
I liked it. Really good. It made me sympathetic to, and root for, Twilight, even though I've been less than enamored of her throughout the season.
I thought about disappearing my post about the Season 4 opener... but I didn't.
I still don't like stuff. That said, the finale, and one or two episodes prior, showed a return to her OLD character, and made it a little easier to enjoy her onscreen.
As I feared, the big changes make it hard to enjoy as much. The Twilight flying scenes are irksome. Her giraffe neck doesn't help, either.
And she's still kinda stuck-up in a weird way. Overall, though, too much of a Scooby-Doo vibe to this ep for me.
Oh well. Maybe the distatste will fade. Just feels wrong, though.
Excessive Angles is two chapters now, 3K words, and a clear path to the next section. Goin' to chaw on some burger, I'll get back to it later.
And it's submitted. Gott mitt uns.

I got done early with stuff today. So,I pulled out the ol' steno pad and opened to the least-promising piece of writing I've done in a bit.
Gary Stu-age.
Yeah, this is the idea I had running around in my head a while back. I took the notes I made, wrote up a chapter's worth here, and because I'm vain and like what I've done so far, I'm postin' it.
The shadow of the Season 3 finale is a long one, I am realizing.
I just tried to dredge up the will to read one of the comics... no dice. Try to get myself to watch an episode from an earlier season... no real desire. I really need to do this to work on characterization, but... it brings up a measure of sadness that whatever I see will be changed in the future.
So for weeks... maybe months... I've had a few stupid 'heroic' story scenarios floating around in my head, so-called 'cool' action sequences supported by the barest of justifications.
You've got mail! New album on Bandcamp!
Damn you, Bandcamp, stahp spamming me! I don't wanna bu... oh hey, Forest Rain!
*listens* Ooh, this is good...
*e-tosses money* Damn you, Bandcamp. And thank you!
Okay, new story is up. I set myself a challenge today, and it was completed successfully... only 50% over budget, but given my usual rate, that's pretty good!
In a conversation, a friend whom I greatly respect asked me a very good question: "Why haven't you written anything involving the main characters?" And while I danced around the topic, there was a simple reason.
Apparently, to post this:
The Mechanical Aviator's Prayer
Oh Ternoulli, Blessed Patron of Skybound Wings,
watch over us as we begin our descent.
Let not the critical angle be exceeded,
nor our flow of air suffer disruption.
In summer, shield us from stones of hail,
and in winter strip the ice from our wings.
Let us not descend below our minima,
and keep us from unusual attitudes.
