Thanks! I'm sure it could have been told without the shock scenes at a tenth of the word count, but what would have been the fun of that?
My most coherent plots-with-shock-scene fics are probably Crimson's Cutie Mark and its sequel Fallout Happy Horses, the only two stories on this account I think that managed to be featured on the front page for a day. They have less run-away bloat too, so might want to check them out if you liked CRV.
