I used to post stories to the /mlp/ board on 4chan. Now I wouldn't recommend going there, but I found a nice place in Applejack threads. This is where I started. The stories on 4chan are called Green. Green texts are any lines of text preceded by a diamond bracket, or ">". This turns the text green and allows for separation of dialogue between the main character and other characters, or whatever the writer feels like. These stories aren't long, and usually involve the commonly accepted representation of the people of /mlp/, Anon. Anon is the only human (usually) in Equestria, and that is the basis for a lot of greens. This allowed me to focus on using details for the ponies instead of humans. This also allowed me to describe the fantastic and colorful landscapes of Equestria.
