I think that it is a very good thing that you are looking for an outside opinion before releasing a story. My suggestion to you would be to find an editor or a pre-reader who can help you grow as a writer and who can help you through your narrative. I know that I never really started to learn until I started using the experience of others to guide me. Fortunately, FIMFiction is full of such folks! So in case you care: I was thinking about starting to write some stories but I'm not so sure about that right now (because my english isn't the best and I just haven't tried to write a good story at all, yet).
So if you want to correct my grammar or so go ahead I don't mind.

I had a very hard time of it during my first month on the site, and at one point I even almost gave up. It's a good thing I didn't, as now I've met so many great folks. When I come across a new user I stop in and offer a helping hand, just like I wish someone had done for me.
