Little Shine is a young earth pony living in the crafts village of Manewood. He has a nurturing mother, a caring father, and a loving brother. Physically weak, but supported by his family, he passes through life. But one day, nature is not so kind. A cataclysm ravages Manewood, leaving Little Shine with no family to speak of.

Princess Twilight Sparkle is responsible for the relief effort to Manewood, and upon finding Little Shine, she brings him back to Ponyville.

Little Shine must now build a new life for himself, and confront his true weaknesses along the way.
