Chapter 2 (New Beginnings)

~Rift~

The little "unicorn", (as i learned what she was) had been staying with me at my camp for maybe two days now. We had got to talking and I learned her name, Navi. She said she was from the base of the mountains, somewhere my Clan never never dared go. The entire area was covered with some deep fog that scared even the eldest of my kin. We had seen pony's go in, and as far as we were concerned they never came back out. She claimed an entire village of them used to lived there. But one part of her story caught my interest. "Used to lived there." Where were they now? And better yet why wasn't she with them? I had yet to ask her, So why not now? Rift~ "Hey, Navi?" She looked up from her little bowl of soup. Navi~ "Hmmm?" Rift~ " A while ago when you were telling me about your valley, you said you used to live there, Where did you go?" She hesitated for a moment almost dropping her bowl of soup. Navi~ " Oh....um." Rift~" Navi, whats wrong?”

~Navi~

I can’t believe I even mentioned my home to...to this....savior of mine. Navi~ “Rift *Sigh* I haven't exactly been honest with you.” Why was i doing this? Why was i about to tell this... stranger my secret? I mean i am grateful for what he has provided me with, but this... I couldn't help but stare glumly into the ground. Navi~ " Rift, I'm not the little innocent filly i appear to be." With that my horn glowed and i began to slowly return up to my normal size. Rift~ "Navi...?" Navi~ "Hehe, yes it's still me." Rift~ "W-what are..." Navi~ " Rift.....just sit down. There's a lot of explaining i have to do".

They spoke for hours Navi explaining her true past to Rift, And Rift doing his best to wrap his mind around the information being fed to him. Rift~ “You’re the only unicorn of your tribe?” Navi~ “ Probably the entire region actually...” Rift~ “Wheres your tribe, why were you out here? Better yet why were you out here disguised as a filly? Navi~ “About that.... you see i kinda am a bit new at uh, magic. I kinda burnt down the majority of my village with... Well the same thing i saved you with.” Rift~ “ SAVED, you nearly fried me to a crisp.” Navi~ “ Haha, yeah about that, I had been alone in those woods for a while, and well. When you burn down a village, people usually come after you, so I figured i might change what i look like make it hard for them to find me.” Rift~.....So you made your self look like a younger you? That was supposed to keep them from finding you? Navi~ “Now that you mention it, that does sound like a horrible idea. But hey, why am i complaining i found you? Didn’t I?” At least now I have someone to travel with.” Rift~” Travel? what are you talking about? Navi~ “Oh well...i figured that since your no longer welcome back at your home you wouldn't mind traveling with me.” She said that maintaining a massive grin looking like she was pleading for him to come.

What in Grey-Manes going on here? What is this ludicrous pony proposing? But then again...There seemed to be some alluring factor to the idea of adventure. In fact it hasn't been until that odd mark on my flank appeared since my last adventure. I hesitated answering her but something about this...mare just wouldn't let say no to her. Rift~ “Well, Its not like i have anywhere else to be. At least anymore.” I couldn't help but look up grinning when i saw her face light up, I've never seen anypony more excited than this before. She ran to me and hugged me, it didn't last long she couldn't hold still she was bouncing around overjoyed she wouldn't have to spend another day alone in these unforgiving mountains. Rift~ “So uh, where did you have in mind?” She glanced over for a second having had her giddy little spurt of energy suddenly cut short. Navi~ “ Oh yeah, here follow me there's something i want to show you.” And with that we were off. Me setting out on my first adventure in years with this mythical mare.

I cant believe it. He’s actually coming with me. Honestly I'm still surprised hes let me stay with him at his camp, he even fed me, he...took care of me. Someone i stalked for food, and lied to. And somehow after all of that hes just looked the other way, and has now agreed to come with me. I took to a place i had found during my days of aimless wandering, it seemed to be some big stone wall covered in writing i couldn't read. When we arrived there Rift simply looked up in awe, he was absolutely dumbstruck. Rift~ “Navi...what is that?” Navi~”Hehe, pretty amazing isn't it? I found it during my uh wanderings.” Rift~” Navi, this is amazing, but what does it mean?” Navi~ “Well i don't really have an idea, in fact i was hoping you could take a look at it.” Rift~ “ Oh um, I guess i could look.....Um Navi I think i might know what this is.” Did i just hear right? He might actually know what this massive monolith might say. Navi~ “Are you serious?!” Rift~ “Well yes and no. I recognize this writing its some really old kind of writing from my tribe. Bad news i cant discern what it actually means. Navi~ “Well...then wouldn't that mean your tribe would have some kind of old book with translations or at least some clue to what this could mean?” Rift~ “What are you proposing?” I couldn't help but snicker Navi~ “ Well i figured a strong colt like yourself wouldn't have ANY problem retrieving a book.” Rift~ “ Navi, I'm banished i cant go back. If anyone saw me they’d...well i don't know what they’d do, But I’d rather not find out.” Navi~ “ Well who says they would see you? Id imagine it wouldn't be that difficult for a talented one such as you to sneak in and grab a book.” He sighed. Rift~ “ You know i have a feeling you’ll be talking me into worse things a lot in the coming future.” Navi~ “So you’ll do it? Our first adventure!” Rift~ “We’ll shall we head out then?” Navi~ “Lets.”

Ok I can work with this. Not bad. it is sorta different from your last chapter. But good.
