I still have a feeling that Celestia and Luna wouldn't see a issue with Rain/Grace interspecies relationship. And Rain's own commanding officers and comrades will have a very rude awakening when they get rightfully punished by the princesses themselves.
Considering I'd just blazed through this story and its precursor, I should comment something more. This is an interesting start! I like the focus on a medical pony, rather than one preparing for combat. And the "efficiency vs heart" thing should turn out well. I hope Rain can learn to get along well with his new compatriots. Perhaps very, very well...
This is looking good. Some deployment romance and the ensuring drama. Can't wait for more. I kinda have to turn my mind off for how the Equestrian military works through. Having been in the military and deployed a few times the disciplinary actions and training they are doing sounds crazy. But that's not why I'm here, griffon and pony romance and dealing with ingrained segregation between them has my interest.
11633304 NP, it's the small horse and catbird military so they do things different. The weirdness is by no means a dealbreaker. And medics kind of have a weird parallel authority. In my latest experience the head Doc on deployment wore American flag sunglasses and a speedo with 'Freedom' on the butt for Independence Day and he spent the day dragging around a cooler of drinks to give people. Point is, intricacies of real world military culture are not something you can just read a short primer on as research. Your time was better spent making it up as you went like you did. Only like 1% of people are going to notice anyway.

Probably below the princesses' notice.

Well, the reason I said this. Is that I seen other commenters from the previous story talk about it.

I loved the first one, and to see it has a sequel is best gift!!!
