No going to lie, I think everyone wishes they had a significant other that won't even let death get in the way of their pep talks!
And oh snap, we're going full WH40K, complete with ancient underground cathedrals and and lost technology!
So the Spellhorns are Space Marine analogs eh? Of course you know this means they require some fancy pseudo-latin title to go along with that. (Adeptus Solarii? Cornu Arcani? Magnuscustos Equorum? I dunno )
Interesting to see that Celestia's "flawed soul" appears to act as a kind of "leash" to ensure she can never leave Equestria without a Black Sun. Makes me wonder if her soul was deliberately built that way, and whether The Harpy's is to?
Speaking of The Harpy, I can't help but notice her overall role in the cosmology of this setting has never really been explained. The alicorns are fairly self explanatory (Celestia - Sun/Life, Luna - Moon/Death, etc...), but the Allmother has always been something of an enigma. Was she meant to instill living beings with will, with purpose? Was she meant to act as a mid-level manager on Harmony's behalf? (Heck of a job she did if this is the case, hard to run a business when you let your kids slaughter your rank and file employees!) Or is she a purely superfluous entity that doesn't understand her role has already been fulfilled? I'll be very interested to see if these questions get answered!

Yes. But there is a twist. And I think you'll be satisfied with my bullshit Latin. Their 'title' is going to appear eventually.
Piece of Parchment is going to touch on why Celestia's soul is the way it is as soon as it returns. I gotta finish Collateral Damage and it's quick sequel first.
What you're missing about the Harpy is one tiny insight: she doesn't fit. She is a monotheistic god, while the alicorns are a pantheon. What she did was put things in motion, as Luna explained in Fólkvangr. She created griffons that demanded Harmony reacted by creating the ponies. If she had taught griffons to respect the ponies and not go nuts on their meat, even though it was so tasty and gave them a 'high', none of this would have happened. Ponies would be happily seeding life on the planet and everything would have worked as intended.
