Cinch: Annoyance and Anger
Cinch stared at the grouping of three women, laughing at some sort of pointless joke or equally worthless tale that Cadence had shared. She grimaced as she watched the three in their merriments, why did she have to be surrounded by such idiots?
For some reason the students flocked to Cadence, a lot of the teachers doing naught but singing her high praises. But why? What had the Dean of students done for Crystal Prep? Cinch had saved the Academy, raising its academic and athletic scores to the highest in the province, and among the highest in the whole country. It now had a reputation of excellence! And it was all thanks to her.
So why was Cadence the one that was so well liked? Coddling students did not help them. You had to be strict, cleaver. Dangling a carrot off of the end of a stick was a good way to motivate them, but making them compete for something greater was an even better plan. Make them fight one another on the battlefield of knowledge, and you shall separate the strong from the weak. And then you further temper the strong, moulding them in the crucible to become better than all others.
Friendship was a weakness, and strength made right. Not the baseless notion of raw brawn, but rather intellect. Knowing how to use those around you, that was proper strength. To achieve a position of power and prestige involves sacrifice, but none of it needs to be yours.
All of this was slowly imparted on the students of Crystal Prep Academy by Cinch. She smiled cruelly as she looked over her various students that had been… convinced to join the team, to show off just how superior they were over the lowly vagrants of Canterlot High.
But Cadence was proving to be more trouble of late. She was comforting the students too much, making them grow lax and weak. Inspiring them to look into the falseness that was friendship. Cinch had been keeping an eye on the Dean over the last months, noting how she acted, trying to spot any sort of mishap that could be used to replace her with someone more suited for the glorious Academy of Crystal Prep.
And if Cadence wouldn’t reveal something, Cinch would just have to find something. Just like she had with that Sunset Shimmer girl. She stared coldly at Sunset and the group around her, noting a few students of Canterlot High actually laughing and smiling with Cinch’s superior specimens.
Sunset Shimmer was a unique young woman. Utterly brilliant, yet for some reason was shackled to the epidemic that was friendship. After Cadence was… dealt with, Sunset would need to be next.

! Sighs...i suppsoe you have a point maybe...maybe. But talking to them at the time was not possible she been going thru a roller coaster of emotions.
She went very low, the began to rise and then was brought down by Celestia and Luna, rose up then got brought down again by the Rainbooms, started to recover then exploded at the assembly and the confronation was a MESS.
Also it was mentioned Sunset did DID try to talk to them before she tried to kill herself. Read the first chapter of the first arc again it states she tried one more time to talk to them and it was the final straw so to speak.
Well she going to talk to them now.....but the ball is in the court and who knows where it will bounce.
Depends on what they say or do, and sorry to say this. But I see Dash blowing it.
you know who she like acts first then thinks second...well more like fourth at times.
Makes me wonder how Cinch would react if she knew just how many Big-Bads (which actually included Sunset herself at one point) that the "weakness" that is friendship has defeated over all this time.
In both Equestria and this world.
As to this
Oh, my dear deluded Abacus.
You have absolutely no idea what you're about to unleash if you mess with Sunset right now, do you?
Especially given what she's been fighting back against lately.
Well, anyway, congratulations are seriously in order here, my friend.
I already pretty much despised Cinch even from what little I've actually seen of Friendship Games, but after this chapter?
I full-in hate this petty, pathetic bitch.
That's the sign that a writer has written a REALLY good chapter.
Well done, and I eagerly await the next chapter!
Now, all that said, I cannot wait to see her get her well-deserved comeuppance.
Cinch never made sense to me. why not Sombra. It's the Starlight issue qgain. but man you made me hate her more.
8259832
Aw shucks, your making me blush >.<
Im glad you like my little bit of insight into Cinch~
Hopefully people like what I have planned~
8259853
Hehe xD
Sombra is just a gym teacher so nothing more than a small mention for him last chapter~
I do have plans for Starlight and Chrysalis to be showing up eventually~ ;'D
8259870
I mean overall even i nthe movign she made no sense.
8259873
Ah gotcha~
8259821
Oh yeah I remember that, I assumed it was a reference to the conversation in the comic where Sunset finally convinced them but in this story it went the other way so there could actually be a story. Look I'm not saying mistakes weren't made but now that the truth is out they should be making efforts to resolve things not continuing to make them worse and at least the Humane 5 are making an effort.
8259854 Then I've done my job right.
Well, I do. Anytime a writer makes me feel such emotions about a character, it's a sign of a job very well done.
And I can't speak for everyone else, but I certainly will, I'm sure.
I know that this is taken from the Equestria Girls movie and it runs in cartoon logic, but what kind of principal has this much of delusions of grandeur. Can't wait for more
This totally fits the end of Cinch's inner monologue
https://m.(imagines Cinch standing right by a pool of lava) ...Soooon.
8259931
Sunset is still recovering, even 4 months after the fact. She still needs time before she can approach the Rainbooms and talk things out~
Things will happen though~
8259949
Thanks for the kind words >\\\<
8259964
Hehe yes Cinch is very full of herself XD
8260042
XD
8260143
Will fix that when i get a chance, thanks for catching them! >.<;
I wanted to show the characters and set up some stuff for later yup~
And someone get Sunset a cross! DX
8260148
I imagine her like emperor palpatine xD
8260276 You're very welcome, hun.

The sirens easily could've gone for the kill while the Rainbooms were down before Sunset grabbed the mic, but they didn't, they just stopped the attack. Fluttershy hadn't done anything yet, except had driven Sunset to suicide and anatagonized Sunset again afterwards at the mall. The Rainbooms hadn't seen the sirens defensiveness, they showed up after before immediately going on the assault, completely ignoring Sunset's breakdown. They didn't say something like "Get out of the way, we need to talk with Sunset" or "We don't have time to deal with you", they went straight into open mocking while Sunset was having a breakdown.
As for some of the other comments, there's absolutely no reason to believe they would've helped Sunset if they knew she was attacked. Heck, she tried to talk to them afterwards with no luck. Most likely they would've stopped an attack right in front of them if it involved a weapon, but otherwise probably would've just watched or left ( Rainbow and Applejack were ready to attack Sunset themselves). Heck, even if they stopped the attack, they probably would've used it as leverage to try and force a confession.
Also, it was never just a few mean words from a misunderstanding. A few mean words based on misinformation was the jealous rage scene from Rainbow Rocks. Sunset hadn't done anything remotely suspicious (heck, the entire thing started because she was extremely lonely as she had no family to spend the holidays with) and they instantly assumed it was her on evidence they really should've learned to doubt by now (seriously, Sunset pulled that stunt on them before, so they should've at least considered the possibility). They weren't misinformed, they instantly assumed the absolute worst in Sunset without giving her a chance to speak from no outside influence or fault of Sunset's. Then they cause her to breakdown multiple times, accusing her of faking it (and ignoring it during the siren encounter). Even after they learned she tried to kill herself, they were still in denial that they were the primary cause (which they were, they were all Sunset had) until after being scolded by Celestia, yelled at by the sirens and Sunset, then yelled at by Twilight and Sunset again. After that, they finally realize how bad they hurt her.
While finally confronting them would be healthy for Sunset in normal cases, it's dangerous here. The corruption always acts up near them (even here when she's let go). Also, Sunset had a lot of trouble trusting anyone after the betrayal and has no reason to trust them now. They were jerks during the Battle of the Bands until she saved them from the sirens, then threw her away viciously without even having solid evidence. This has happened before as well, she has no reason to believe it won't happen again. Frankly, even though it wasn't their intention, they basically used Sunset and disposed of her when she was no longer useful at the first sign of trouble, not even bothering to think things through or even consider it wasn't Sunset, who had no motive. Her redemption, her months of work to improve, her trust in them, meant nothing to them. They claimed she was family as well, so she has even less reason to trust them. If they were willing to do that to family, she'd never be safe with them. Something hurts their egos again with something pointing at Sunset, she has no reason to believe they wouldn't turn on her again. Same with the rest of the school. They obviously didn't think the friendship was remotely worth keeping, why should the actual victim of the entire fiasco? Maybe once they actually learn their lesson (not just try to get Sunset back because they feel guilty) and Sunset has had some time to recover, then they can try to rekindle the friendship. The way they're handling it now, it feels more like they're trying to make themselves feel better and get Sunset back rather than actually set things right and do what's good for Sunset. They don't even want to consider that maybe Sunset is better off without them (whether or not it's true is irrelevant, it's the lack of consideration that's the problem). I'm finding it very hard to sympathize with them after everything. It's especially jarring because they wouldn't actually forgive her if she pulled anything like that (as seen by the entire Anon-A-Miss incident, in the comic they were seriously considering it being unforgivable even if Sunset was family) and actively tried to antagonize her while Sunset (at least when not dealing with the corruption) moved on and stopped others from hurting them.
Good luck, bitch. Cadence is so clean she squeaks.
And as for Sunset....well I'm sure I don't have to tell you what happens when you step on a landmine......
I see Witch is up to something and I hope that it comes crashing down on her head. That's Right, screw her name. I'm calling her 'Witch' in this story. And, if any of you don't find that name fitting for her: too bad.
8260287
You just had to say that name *random video intensifies*
8260489
Okay this is a silly argument they didn't go for the kill because the villain always inexplicably gives the heroes enough time to talk and plan a counter attack even when they really shouldn't.
There's more reason to believe they would have helped her. It's like I said if they wanted her hurt or worse the story never showed it.
Sure maybe she's not ready to talk but she has to explain that because when you make a mistake any decent human beings first instinct is to try and correct it. But Sunset refuses to say anything even to her new friends she just sits back and allows more fuel to be added to the fire. Also why are they wrong for wanting to apologize what the hell are they supposed to do except try to talk with her?
Well now too be fair its not like she was friends with everyone in the School those that didn't know her well had no reason to believe she was innocent. It's why I find blaming the whole School kind of silly, realistically only a small group of students would have taken any action against her the rest would have probably ignored her or just talked behind her back.
8260555
Stepping on a landmine doesn't actually do much; stepping off of it, on the other hand...
8260555
mwahahaha~! >;'D
8260561
Yeah, shes a character alright xP
8260583
heh, a calssic~ xD
8260661
Dangit Murphy! Your law sucks! xD
8260635
When I said they didn't see the friendship as worth keeping, I meant the Rainbooms, my bad. Still, one thing you're forgetting, no villains except Demon Sunset actually wanted to kill anyone (I guess there's also the dragons and chimera, the show is weird about them). The sirens never showed any inkling of wanting to kill the Rainbooms (and not due to kids show either, they got away with it in the first movie) and would make sense wanting to drain or control them. There's nothing in canon or this fic to suggest they were trying to kill.
The issue isn't that they're trying to correct a mistake. That's not really what they're doing, they're trying to get Sunset back. Instead of trying to figure out what's best for Sunset, they're going for what's best for them. They wouldn't even fully admit they're mistake until much later (after the second assembly) when they had already botched the first attempt. They've also shown that they haven't learned their lesson yet, still antagonizing Sunset's friends the first chance they get. Maybe if they learned to bite their tongues for once, Sunset might have a reason to talk to them. They saw her fighting off the corruption twice and her breakdown at the assembly. What they really needed to do was give her some time, actually reflect and learn from the incident, and find a way to truly show they're sorry instead of just lip service. They also need to consider that maybe Sunset shouldn't be friends with them and her feelings on the matter, that they should try to set things right then leave her be. What Sunset is doing by burying everything is unhealthy for sure, but after having so many breakdowns and just wanting to move past everything and start over, why would she bother talking to them? They didn't give her the same courtesy, Princess Twilight told her to avoid them for now, and she's still being the much better person by not being willingly hostile.
When they saw her at the mall, there first reaction was to yell at her while she broke down in a public place. They could've very easily ignored her, but instead they attacked her and put her in another depression (heck they technically do so four times in this fic, twice directly, twice indirectly). The real kicker is that Sunset was completely innocent of what they accused her of while the Rainbooms were 100% guilty.
What exactly do you expect of Sunset? She's treating the Rainbooms infinitely better than they treated her, when they're actually guilty. The Rainbooms never even bothered to consider she was innocent. We've seen them remorseful, but she hasn't. Each time she's seen them since they learned she was innocent, they haven't exactly shown any reason why she should listen to them, especially since she has extreme difficulties with it, both psychological and magical. Sure she's not handling the situation perfectly, but why should she? She's been much more reasonable than the Rainbooms were at any point in this story or comic and is actually enjoying her life again. She wants to move on while they want her back. Even here, rather than ignore the Crystal Prep students and talk to Sunset, they jumped on the offensive. Honestly, I'm having a lot of trouble having much sympathy for the Rainbooms when they haven't really earned any or even shown they've learned their lesson. Could Sunset do better? Yes, but is it really fair to expect it of her when she's already done so much better than the Rainbooms did?
8260876
The Sirens attacked them I doubt the plan was to cuddle them into submission. When force is used its safe to assume with any villain that they intend lethal harm (general rule is shoot to kill even if you would rather not). The only villains that never tried to hurt the characters were Discord and maybe Starlight since the harm she cause was kind of unintentional.
With everything else I appreciate you trying to fill the holes but I'm just not convinced, maybe my view will change in time anything is possible.
8260716
Exactly, so if I were Cinch, I would stay exactly where she is.....and not make any sudden moves.
This actually gave me an idea for an Anon-A-Miss fic I've been considering writing. Basic premise is that it uses the Dark Knight job from FFXIV, Sunset finds a Dark Knight soul crystal and becomes a vigilante. She saves human Twilight from some thugs and gets taken in. Throughout the story she'd end up saving the main Shadowbolts, with her and Twilight helping them through personal issues. The Shadowbolts would end up joining Sunset as a sort of team/apprentices. Anyways, the idea this chapter gave me is what to do with Cinch. Originally I was going to have her as a villain. Now though, I'm thinking of having the group with Cadance save her at some point and open up more to the idea of friendship and teamwork. The catch is that with the exception of stopping things like blackmailing the students, she doesn't change how she acts towards the students much. Instead, she sets up a kind of system with Cadance where Cinch pushes the students hard to excel while Cadance helps them in other ways, a kind of good cop bad cop system.

Meanwhile, Aria sneaks up behind Principal Cinch and screams "BOO!!!".
Good god, Cinch couldn't sound more supervillainy if she tried. Kudos to that.
I wonder what kind of backstory would adequatly explain how she turned up to be such a petty, bitter little parody of a human being.
With the amount of arguing about how right or wrong the Main 5 are, I'd like to hear your thoughts on Hell and High Water. With the author's permission of course.
8263856 There is no backstory that can justify how much of a b@#$h Cinch is. It is not even worth the time and effort to try and come up with one.
8263856
Hehehe xD
I may someday show my version of her backstory~ Who knows~
8264968
I haven't heard of it myself~
8266756
well I have one~! ;'D
8266766 I look forward to reading it
8266768
Here it is.
Cinch...!
8266756
Simple her father is the human Tirek nough said
9296203
As funny as it would be for tirek to be the father of cinch who would he have to have married into for her to be the way she is and I just can't see him as a father
The words to describe scent are as followed power hungry egotistical selfish self-centered driven reputationist that doesn't give a damn about anyone else but herself I realize that some of that is redundant but you get the point
