I get the feeling that Sunset is going to abuse the fact that Celestia's mind was wiped clean from the event of the fall. Make her think this is what she did and plans to humiliate her. If she does, I hope Luna comes down hard on them. Not as a princess, but as a sister.
Nice update!
I still think the disappearance of the blanking device, as mentioned in a previous chapter, is suspect. Sure, Sunset didn't do it...but other members (including powerful ones, like Starlight) could have. Especially with the "Phase Three" being marked out when Celestia shows up. Not a good idea to wave around the very important magical device you stole in front of someone like that. Of course, I could be wrong, but I think it's a decent enough theory. The device being used to "blank" stallions the group finds "dangerous", after all, isn't something too far fetched. Especially since blanked ponies are shown to be seen as little to no threat, depending on programming.

As someone who has worked with the setting as much as I have, I like to incorporate things like this , that were made strictly for the setting itself, into my stories as much as possible. I mean, it is clear Windchill was just invented to be more rape fodder, and would have never been explored more than "Female Guard Captain who gets brainwashed", but there so much you can do with such a character.
The fact that she was sent to a newly re-established kingdom to serve as the highest rank of their security force infers that she is both skilled and competent, moreso than her eventual caribou appointed replacement, Orestes, who himself is a very strange addition to the setting seeing that he was blatantly sexist BEFORE he even met the caribou, which is odd in a female ruled culture, and that he would have been serving to protect the princess before this point. While I would say it isn't IMPOSSIBLE for him to be in this position, perhaps that is why he wasn't as high a rank as his female counterpart, and also added further into his resentment of women. I mean that's all I can go with, since neither of these characters were ever fleshed out, if they were ever meant to be in the first place.

Agreed, I always wondered what Poprocks had planned for the character but it most likely would not have been as well rounded and developed as anything you have done. But hey things probably turned out ok for her in your setting. I also agree that Orestes made no sense and the fact that his name is just copied from a Greek myth makes me think not much thought went into his creation. Nice update as usual.
