The doors to the emergency room burst open as doctors, guards, and ALL 4 princesses whom were surrounding a ill looking drake turned to see the disruption.
"Nurse Redheart?" Twilight asks unsure if she had the correct pony.
"Where. Is. He" Redheart asked defensively a low growl emitting while saying so.
Twilight took an instinctive step back while Celestia too a step forward.
"Do not worry...Redheart?" Celestia asks receiving a small nod for confirmation from her. "Spike is fine as of now but he is in critical condition and I don't think you'd want to see what has happened to him in his current state." Celestia tried to keep up a stoic face but even if she was a master at showing nothing but neutrality tears we're rolling down her face as she said this.
"I. Want. To see him Now!" Redheart yelled
Ponies around the room all gasped that she just yelled at their benevolent princess, ruler of the Bucking SUN, diarch of Equestria. Surely she would be...smiling? The princess of the sun and Equestria was smiling that she got yelled at.
"Then by all means," Celestia said softly "go to him." She stepped aside.
Love truly does conquer all. Celestia thought as she stepped aside for Redheart to see Spike.
Redheart gasped at how Spike looked.
Spike had multiple stab wounds in the chest and stomach are along with numerous bruises, a black eye, a mouthful of blood, and an arm that shouldn't be bent the way it should.
Tears now flowed freely from her as she choked out one response. "W-who d-did...this?"
All princess's in the room frowned at the thought of whom caused but each princess had a different reason.
Celestia frowned in disappointment because she wanted Spike to be safe and a pony, did...this under her rule. She would've gone as far as saying Spike was her...her...son, and she failed him.
Luna frowned in anger as one of her first few friends were harmed and under her beautiful night no less. She would have that stallion hang from the gallows for what he did.
Cadence frowned in sadness as she had wanted to tell something to Spike but being the ruler of an empire made it hard for her to have some quality time with Spike.
Twilight frown was one that could make a ponies heartbreak at the sight. She blamed herself entirely having been his guardian. He was like a little brother to her and one of her oldest friends.
Cadence was about to step forward but was stopped by the doors of the E.R. Bursting open...again standing there was the rest of the main six and Spikes best friends Big Mac, Derpy Whooves, Donut Joe, and Soarin the Wonderbolt.
Each all cried in unison as they looked upon Spike's figure.
"SPIKE!!!"

A bit out of left field, but...
Rarity friendzoned Spike--and one of the reasons is that HE'S TOO YOUNG?! And in the same way, Redheart has a crush (and probably more
), and I'm pretty sure that Redheart and Rarity would be roughly comparably similar ages if Redheart is actually older...I smell a generous hypocrite...
The other reasons I can understand, just the rejection by age bristles me a bit. That makes Rarity really look like a bitch...but then again this story is not about her, it it about the growing relationship between Spike and Nurse Redheart. It's just that I had to comment on that particular point.''
Also, be a bit original for Spike's would-be assassin/culprit. Blueblood as a villian is kinda old. I am looking forward to who had the straight-up stones to not just assault Spike, but apparently attempt to kill him. I assume that the culprit may know that Spike pretty damn connected and that would be a major reason for the attempted assassination, or could just be wanting to slay a dragon (I'm pretty sure Celestia outlawed that if it hasn't been done already).
Oh no In my mind Blueblood would accept Spike being in the royal family even going as far as to shape him in his image. And about a Rarity looking like a bitch. It's my way of showing that I don't like RariSpike!!!

Well, now that's known, I would be pretty sure that Blueblood would be a just a might...annoyed (that's an understatement) that his own cousin was targeted...I really want to see how he's handling it--who knows, maybe he's like Shining Armor. nopony messes with family, even if he has scales..
Here's the thing though in this story only Celestia thinks of a Spike like family so Blueblood even Luna wouldn't have taken that action

7357547 I'd say it makes Rarity look shallow more then anything else. Basically it say's she cares more about others thinking bad of her for dating someone younger then her then about how Spike feels about her.
The story is interesting and has potential. I'll admit from the description I expected Spike to come to down with a rare heart disease, not be attacked. I do have to wonder how anyone could even do that much damage to him considering dragons are supposed to be built like tanks.
The biggest problem with the story is the pacing. The story moves and break neck speed from scene to scene without really giving much time to breath. And is a story about tragedy and someone knocking at death door it is very important characters be given a change to breath.
