Boy would I have looked the fool. A couple weeks ago I intended to make a big ol' post highlighting some realizations I'd come to after doing some writing—yes writing, you read that correctly. Here, look:

The reality of the situation is that some happenings IRL and also online have made it difficult for me to focus and it's unfortunately caused me to evolve from a regular old Tofu loaf into a Loafasaurus Rex. Still plinking away at it, though. Still getting work done at the speed of a frozen snail traveling across a molasses ocean. Here, look:

I know I've always told everyone that no matter what I'd see Outlaw through to the end a second time, but my interest has waned significantly. Hey y'all, it's been awhile.
I know I said the next chapter would be short (and it is) but I've been doing a bit of loafing as I tend to do. On top of all that, Fallout 4 came out as you all well know and at that point all bets were off. I spent that whole week doing nothing but playing for some combined playtime of ~75 hours. Worth it. Worth every minute. Go buy it if you haven't or you're on the fence! DON'T USE LUCK AS A DUMP STAT
Let's start with the good news! Chapter's done! I've been plugging away at it for the past week or so and I've managed to bang out the last half of chapter 8. It ran a bit longer than I thought it would, so I suppose my fears of it being too short were a little silly. Returning readers will notice that this is where things start to diverge from the original. It's not exactly radical, but there are pretty big signs in this chapter that things will be playing out quite a bit differently
It's been awhile since y'all have heard anything from me. About six months, I reckon? I figure the least I can do is make a blogpost to let everyone know that I'm still here. Still here and still working. Progress on Outlaw has slowed down considerably and I apologize for that. Quite a lot has happened to take me away from the computer since the last update. My mother had neck surgery and couldn't get around without help, there was this whole fiasco involving someone I loaned my car to wrecking

So it’s been like, what—four, five months since I put up the last chapter of Outlaw?
I’ve been working on the rewrite—admittedly at a much slower pace than I originally intended (read: glacially slow), but I’ve finally finished overhauling the first chapter. Which is now three separate chapters, because as I have discovered, people like smaller chapters. I’ll be doing the same thing to the other chapters.
Some of you by now may be noticing that Outlaw has updated. You're probably wondering why. The answer is simple, really. I've long felt the story needed a prologue to ease new readers into things. As you all know, my chapters tend to run on the long side, and a bite-sized first chapter is a lot better for a potential new reader to gauge my writing style and decide if they'd like to read on. To wit, a prologue.
