Discordant Harmony Review · 5:19pm Jun 21st, 2017

Having found a pitch corrected version on DailyMotion, I've decided to watch this episode. Naturally, if you're still waiting on the U.S. (or even Canada) airdate, well you know the drill:

Campfire Tales Review · 1:07am Aug 30th, 2017

Well, it's been almost a week, but I'm back and have finally seen the episode! For those of you who weren't aware, I was down in Mertyl Beach, South Carolina for a few days. It was nice, though the over 14 hour drive to and from there was not worth it. It had some attractions similar to what I saw last year in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg Tennesse (including a much harder escape room), and some new things including the big draw in the form of "Broadway on the Boardwalk" a giant boardwalk near

To Change A Changeling Review · 6:04pm Sep 2nd, 2017

So, we're getting episodes airing out of order again, this time for the whole month of September. First up is this episode, which by the way is the first episode not to have any of the mane six, Spike, or the CMC, It's just Starlight, Trixie, and Thorax. Considering what happened the last time Starlight and Trixie were the focus of an episode (back during "All Bottled Up") things didn't go very well for them. While this episode was foreshadowed about two episodes ago, it had a lot to tackle.

Once Upon A Zepplin Review · 4:49pm Oct 7th, 2017

Well, time to change gears and focus on the show again. We've got our first solo Twilight Sparkle episode since Season 5 and "What About Discord?" which quite frankly you'll forgive me for not wanting to remember it with how bad it was. We also have the major selling point of this marking the re-debut of Twilight's parents, Night Light and Twilight Velvet. The episode is penned by another new writer, Brittany Joe Flores, who I can't find any information on at the moment. Given the track record

This isn't a review blog (I've already done that). These are just observations I make in the context of hindsight as I rewatch S3 for the first time in years. Pretty sure I've rewatched seasons one and two in the last couple years; I think I might keep up a "four seasons ago" retrospective from now on. Well, for the next two seasons, anyway. >.>

School Daze Parts 1 and 2 Review · 5:09am Mar 25th, 2018

It's later than usual, but better late than never. Anyway, going into this season is quite interesting because a lot has already been made known about it. Some episodes were even leaked without background audio, another had its ending revealed in a magazine, all 26 episodes have had their synopsis' released, and we know already that there's a Season 9 in the works. We also know that this seasons is going to attempt to be more overarching in its narrative, something that hasn't been attempted

Molt Down Review · 4:33pm May 26th, 2018

And so we come to the first (and perhaps only) Spike episode of the season. One of the biggest details about it was leaked months in advance, and this episode was among the leaked ones. Josh Haber was already revealed as this episode's writer, but despite being story editor for the season where Spike stopped being a butt monkey, he doesn't really have a track record for Spike focus episodes. Considering the track record for Spike episodes with him in the spotlight tend to be really weak for the

Fake It 'Til You Make It Review · 4:28pm Apr 7th, 2018

Season 8's been getting off to a strong start so far, but now we've got an episode penned by Josh Hamilton! You may remember last season that Hamilton's name was attached to duds like "Parental Glideance" (which gave us filler scenes we didn't need, instead of important scenes we did need), "Triple Threat" (which thought it could mask a "Spike Screws Up" episode with Spike being called by the map), and the episode that surpassed "The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000" as my least favorite

Grannies Gone Wild Review · 4:29pm Apr 14th, 2018

Yes yes, the title is definitely a surprising one for the show. Anyway, G. M. Berrow's writing this episode, and her track record for the show is... mixed to put lightly. "The One Where Pinkie Pie Knows" is the very definition of a fun episode even if there were some questionable moments towards the end, "Fluttershy Leans In" was just there for lack of a better term and the moral I still have mixed feelings on, and "Daring Done?" was great from a character standpoint but the story while great

Horse Play Review · 4:34pm Apr 28th, 2018

With last week's episode debuting a new writer, this week's episode is following suit. Kaita Mpambara penned this episode, having previously written for stuff like Ultimate Spider-Man (Kevin and Chris used to write for it, and now write for the 2017 cartoon that is a much better product). With the focus being on Princess Celestia, who got a ton of development last season, and last week's episode being debatable in quality (from a character, moral, and visual perspective it was pretty

Daring Doubt Review (Spoilers for American Fans!) · 4:59pm Aug 16th, 2019

China is at it again, this episode has aired earlier than was announced (it was supposed to come out today but it popped up yesterday). No word yet on whether or not that means the early airings are back on again or not. We also don't have official synopsis for the last four episodes, though there is a potential title for the 24th episode called "The Big Question" (considering "The Last Laugh" was originally referred to as "That's a Laugh" it's possible that's a working title). Anyway, this

She Talks to Angel Review (Spoilers for American Fans!) · 2:45pm Jul 16th, 2019

Well folks, this is it for now, the last of the early airings in China. There may be more next weekend, but as of this moment the synopsis' for them have not been revealed, so that means I'm going to stop here for now. Now, our writer for this episode is Nick Confalone, the same Nick Confalone who brought the Equestria Girls franchise to new heights, before he brought it all crashing down and struggling to get back up. His writing for the show was a mixed bag last season "The Maud Couple" felt

The Ending of the End and The Last Problem Review · 5:06am Oct 13th, 2019

Well folks, this is it, the grand finale is at last upon us! It's truly been a remarkable ride, who would've guessed back in 2010 that this show would not only be a success but would last for long as it did and inspire such a talented and dedicated fandom? But all good things must come to an end eventually, no one wants to see a show become the next "The Simpsons", the next "Family Guy", or the next "Spongebob Squarepants" a show that keeps going on and on and becomes a shell of its former

Well, that was an absurdly long mini hiatus, but the wait is over and the 100th episode has arrived!

This episode was penned by fan favorite writer M. A. Larson, and he promised us an episode that the fandom would love. Did he deliver, or did he somehow screw up? Well, it's time to find out.

Celestial Advice and All Bottled Up Review · 5:32pm Apr 15th, 2017

Time to kick off the seventh season for what is going to be a VERY big year for the franchise. In addition to a full 26 episode season, we've got the big movie due out this October, and over the Summer we've got three Equestria Girls 22 minute specials that will be released on Netflix (no word on whether or not this is a test for a possible spin-off series, or just a one-off experiment to keep the franchise going). And for the very first time in the show's history, we are

First and foremost, I know this is the first of pretty much every episode for the rest of the season that has aired early in Canada ("Forever Filly" airs in Canada today and tomorrow "Parental Glidance" will air in Canada), but my policy in regards to them, unless I say otherwise, is as follows:

Parental Glidance Review · 5:06pm May 20th, 2017

*Sigh*. Wow, just wow. I can't believe that the 150th episode of the show, turned out to be like this. And from a writer who all by accounts, should've been much better suited to the task. We've got our first Rainbow Dash episode of the season, which coincidentally is in the same slot as "Newbie Dash" last season, and features The Wonderbolts (as well as Scootaloo). The new writer is Josh Hamilton, who previously wrote for Avatar: The Last Airbender, Avatar: The Legend
