My regular Random Thoughts About Canon series is back with a somewhat controversial statement:
Ponies have arrived to Equestria no earlier than about 1200 years ago.
I’ve been trying to twist it every which way, and can’t make a plausible chronology that fits all statements that is much longer than that. You can make it longer only if you discount something.
An idea just came to me: The Cake is a Pie.
No, literally, this is, like, the entire thing. It explains a lot, though.

I’ve written a huge number of those Points of Canon posts. Someone might actually use them as a reference.1
Which means that it might be helpful to define certain recurring terms that are not always defined in the posts themselves, which became sort of a shorthand.
I have been thinking about Twilight’s Kingdom – it’s actually the longest Points of Canon series post in terms of word count – rather a lot. Probably too much, seeing how that post ended up comparatively unread. Anyway, here, I’m about to offer some answers to the questions I posed in there…
I presented this idea while taking apart Discordant Harmony, and I think it’s actually original, unlike the idea on Star Swirl’s origins, which was first publicly put forward by Dr. Wolf. Time to write this out in detail.

Time for another thought experiment in pegasus flight. They’re pretty complicated creatures, these pegasi, aren’t they?
So I had a question I can’t substantiate a good answer for. Let’s try posing it to a wider audience.

Actually, it took me most of a day, but I’m no Pinkie.
I have previously referred to using a specific rearranged episode chronology which I found somewhere deep in the bowels of the net, and can’t seem to find again. It was complete up until the end of season 3, whereupon most efforts to produce a consistent episode chronology for ponies seem to vanish entirely. Nobody even bothers anymore.

I’ll be doing these four as a single unit, because they are continuous.

I’m holding back on the Shadow Lock storyline because it’s a three-parter, and I’m not sure what to think of it, and I’m holding back on Legends of Magic #1 for a similar reason.
But Friends Forever #37 is standalone, so might as well sort it out while I have the time.
