How to request an editor

First begin by starting a new thread. Please name the thread the title of your story or a laconic description. You don't need to mention that you need an editor in the title. Everyone already knows that.

In the body of the thread, provide a working link to your story if it is already on FIMFiction. It is a huge help to anyone willing to help you.

NOTE:
Create a working hyperlink using the "Add Link" button, as shown:
Do not simply paste the URL as text into your thread. If you do, you force your potential editors to copy and paste the web address into a new tab, which is much more difficult than necessary. No one wants to do that. So, for their sake, please use hyperlinks!

After posting a link, give some basic information about your story (e.g. genre, projected length, crossovers, and any additional relevant information). Finally, please give information about your writing skill and any issues that you need help with. Do also prioritize proper spelling and grammar. A thread written correctly can sometimes give you more credence than detailed information.

For editing purposes, we strongly recommend using Google Docs because of its collaborative power, universal availability, the ability to convert formatting to FIMfiction syntax, and its ability to track changes. We will soon have a guide on using Google docs if you are unfamiliar with its usage.

2021 update:

Mature stories must be embedded using the [embed][/embed] bbcode tag. Paste your story's link between the opening and closing portions of the embed tag, and it'll automatically generate a link to your story (if published) for anyone with "View Mature" set.

Note: This will not work with unpublished stories. In the case of those, give a heads-up about potentially-mature content along with the above information.
