Write them after playing a game. Hell that's where I got "My Little Hedgehog" from. Playing too much Sonic CD and Generations.

Honestly, I just randomly get ideas (no duh...) and start fleshing them out in my head. Other times, if I listen to a song's lyrics, I think of something pony-related, and that leads to a story.
