While back i found a story with a sequel with spike being the main character, it involves him with his tail basically ending up in the wild west. He end up meeting a young dragoness who hails from a race of dragons that were half eastern and half western dragons and can utilized magic unlike the dragons from dragon lands. She would also have a diamond dog who was her partner who had a sister and both could speak Spanish, who had a giant lobster as her companion and often abused and cursed in spanish. The third person if remember correctly was a rather small dragon who was in love with said dragoness and often protected her. The main villian of the first story was a gryphon and a lamia/naga that would often hunt big game and keep them as pets. Dragons in particular were ones they enjoy hunting. Second story involved a dark dragon who wanted to control rule over all dragons and invaded equestria, he had a heated history with the dragonesses family and would recruit garble to aid him.
