Why do some fics get featured, again? What's the criteria?

286550 I checked out the faq on the bottom of the site, and it says that the features are automated, but I don't completely understand it either... and I'd want to know if the order of the features mean anything, or are they just random.

If a crapload of people are reading a fic at once it lands in the featured box at the top, according to knighty. The more advertising you do for a fic in more places the better the odds of landing the top 5 spots
