Most people on this website probably know by now that I'm a very big fan of the Storm King, especially to where I consider him my #1 favorite villain of MLP: FiM. And one of the most underrated animated villains ever, that's for sure. Heck, I honestly can't picture what the 2017 MLP movie would've been like without the Storm King or how the movie would benefit without him, and if it wasn't for the character, I probably wouldn't have ever known about Liev Schreiber or become a fan of him.

Whether this would come as a shock to anyone is something I don't know, but...

Out of all the MLP villains, the Storm King is the one whom I believe represents a darker version of myself. In this case, he's the kind of guy I likely would've become if I decided to turn to a life of chaos and destruction instead of following Jesus and striving above my sinful yearnings. And, of course, his eccentricity, personality, desires for malice, and sense of humor easily seem to match the darkest parts of my own soul. It's pretty much another reason for why I enjoyed writing the character for "A King's Grand Entrance" and editing for him in other stories.

But, fanaticism aside, I made this under-10-second video featuring him a while back specifically to serve as a meme piece, because I felt that his reaction to Twilight Sparkle being the Princess of Friendship was perhaps the Storm King's most meme-worthy moment. For me, it's basically how I'd react to things like Fake News. Or people who are either complaining about something incredibly silly or the same thing everyday.

Take a look:

Also, what sort of reaction does this small moment particularly capture with you guys?

Interesting.

Whatever criticisms peaple have of him, my only two complaints are that he didn't get a song and that he didn't do anything with his tail. Otherwise he was everything I was hoping for and is a way better villain than Sprout or Opaline. (Even though Opaline outwardly seems more menacing she feels like far less of a threat)

My personal head cannon for the Storm King is that he grew up in a tribal society in inhospitable lands to the south (like Antarctica).

His disdain for ponies is because he sees them as week and lazy having gained everything through magic and unable to fight for survival as he had to.

His humor is both him mocking his enemies and projecting a casual additude so foes and betrayers alike will underestimate him.

He was very much underestimating Equestrians because he saw them as small and weak.

The few moments of speed and strength he shows in the film demonstrates he would have been a credible physical threat if he had been more forceful.

Storm King is definitely underrated as a villain.
