lol why
like what can you even do with these ponies? They're caricatures.

And Vinyl Scratch had no speaking lines and only existed as "that pony DJ." What's your point?

A little bit of

can go a long way.

As a matter of fact, let's kick around some fanon. From the front page of this group:

Though the wikia has nothing on them aside from addressing them as Swooning Ponies, I've discovered they have fan names elsewhere. The Unicorn is addressed as Dear Darling, the Pegasus is called Fond Feather, and the Earth Pony is known as Swoon Song.

After doing some searching, I've found all three of them have food-related cutie marks. Dear Darling has fruit (apple and grapes, or maybe tomato and grapes), Fond Feather has a blue cupcake/ice cream thing that is only visible when she's sitting down, and Swoon Song has bread with ketchup? So... foodmakers. And presumably they've been in this village since the days of Starlight.

Hmm.

Dear Darling got her cutie mark in farming, of fruits specifically, which was a problem since she lived in the high-elite city of Canterlot where unicorns aspired to magic. She moved to Starlight's village and became one of the gardeners. However, she's never lost her Canterlot artistry.

Fond Feather, she had parents who encouraged her to fly! Too hard. She didn't like flying. She was agoraphobic. She ran away from home, got her cutie mark in ice cream making, which got her teased by all the pegasi she met right up until Starlight found her. Afterward, she made friends with two other ponies.

Swoon Song has an absolutely gorgeous singing voice. She wanted to be a singer. Her parents wanted her to be a singer. She studied song so much she could be a professional... and then, one day, she found she had a talent for baking, which crushed her dreams, and she ran away in the middle of the night so her parents wouldn't be embarrassed. Then Starlight rescued her, and the rest is history.

When can sing a song with them, no one hit like feather bang, no one Quick as feather bang.

That is the challenge isn't it: Out of all the most notable background ponies in the show, each of which serving a caricature, why these three in general? What makes them so special? I think in a way, these particular questions would come up because there's almost nothing to work with apart from what the fans know about it and yet it's the mystery of such background characters that suddenly peak some form of interest. Whomever decided to start this group, these girls must mean something for a particular individual and hopefully not just because of their beautiful appearance. If there's a story to be told and not just be used as hopeless romantics seeking the attention of a smooth-talking master of rhymes, that's what those in the group are hoping to put together. They may not always be good or get enough views, but at least the time and effort put into such stories make it worthwhile.
