Animals With Wings And Horns In Generation Five

In generation five of MLP there are tons of animals with horns and wings including Racoonicorns, Bunnicorns and Pegasnails.

Of course the most prominent is Cloudpuff, the winged puppy pet of the Zipp and Pipp.

I'm wondering how these winged and horned animals came about. Have they always been there or was it the result of some magical event that created them?

I'm curious to hear your thoughts on this.

I'm in favor of a magical event in the distant past, before the unity crystals were separated. Something like Fluttershy going, "Wouldn't it be cute if there were bunnicorns?", and Discord snapping his fingers.

7757365 I could actually see that happening. Some people have suggested that chaos magic was what created them and before Discord could change them back they escaped and bred and became a native species to certain areas.
