5320679 I suggest Jacksepticeye's playthrough.

5320715 ah, perhaps the luck of the Irish will guide him to victory; or absolute and utter failure with loads of screaming, either one. Lol!

5320710 don't let me be the only one pitching ideas here! At least put down one dooms day scenario for us to look and laugh at! :rainbowlaugh:

5320732 What? Do you know how expensive doomsday is? There's no way that would work!

5320735 don't worry about; it's not your money! :trollestia:

It'll be fine!

5320405 Ok. What kind of game do you want to make it? A sci-fi, fantasy, western, apocalyptic, war, etc.? And don't you need to go to specific classes to learn how to develop a game? From what I know, many of Nintendo's top game designers had to study years at different colleges to get to where they are today.

5320776 You can actually learn a lot more by researching on the internet than you can from a lot of colleges. Plus I'm not making a triple A title or anything like that but hopefully it'll still be good if it ever sees the light of day. Look through the rest of the thread to see what ideas I've already mentioned.

5320786 Ok. So are you planning on making this an Indie game or what?

Eon333MS

5320800 We'll see. Right now I'm following the first step in this guide since I agree that I should work out all of the basics on paper first. So that's where I'm at right now.

5320814 Well, I wish the best of luck to you.

5320696 I think some of that is shooting a little higher than I had intended. My idea was that there's a certain number of people in each city that require help with something. If you help everyone in the city your reputation starts to go up and some of the later cities may recognize you and be nicer to you. If you do nothing then you may end up being treated like an outsider by some of the locals. I think having some of the tasks have consequences might be a little too much to add to the game.

5320849 Also, just a random comment, but I didn't know you could promote your idea for games in this group. Or anything for that matter.

5321191 I think this group was made for so the members could talk about whatever they want. It's sort of a community within the community, plus no one had posted anything in this group for a while so I wanted to do something.

5321197 Oh Ok. Cuz I've seen some groups where one of their rules was "No asking other members for help on your *blank* we are not your personal helpers" or something like that. Wasn't sure if this group was one of them.

5320718 I think I've gotten a few new ideas for what happens next down.

5344383 sweet! Hit me with them! (Don't actually hit me, please) :rainbowwild:

5344568 So I haven't gotten as much done as I'd like since I've been focusing on finishing my new chapter. But now that that's done I've come up with a few new ideas. Once the player gets past the whole tutorial section and enters the first village he is then directed towards the nearby temple for (reasons). At the end of the temple the player encounters one of the main enemies of the game and discovers a seal which the player will deactivate.

Eon333MS

5344568 I feel like I explained that very badly.

5344633 sorry it took me so long to respond; just got off work at my new internship at a dealership.

anyways, i got the gist of what you are trying to say. my only question (as of right now) is, what is the significance of the seal and how is it going to affect the rest of the worlds if and when the player deactivates it? do you want to make deactivating the seal a choice or force them to do it? maybe have that entity try to influence the player to pick one choice or another?

i have more questions like, "what kind of reasons to go to the temple?" and "are they good enough reasons?" but i think that is nitpicking right now and we're still just tossing this idea around.

also, is the main boss of said temple themed to the temple, or is it a displaced alien of some kind?

Eon333MS
Group Contributor

5345453 Yeah I think I oversimplified my idea a little bit. My idea for the seal is that it was built to keep an evil power locked away, but it has also isolated this colony from being able to contact new worlds (essentially the colony is trapped in a pocket dimension of sorts) So opening all of the seals would be the only way for the player to find a way back home. I haven't caught up with more reasons than that as of yet. As for bosses, I haven't put much thought into them actually, guess it kinda slipped my mind :twilightsheepish:

I'll continue this tomorrow.

5345453 Hey I'm having some trouble deciding what to do with the seven cities that come after the first. I mean I want there to be an ice world, desert world, a machine world. But I don't know what the order I want is and I'm a bit stuck right now.

5346754 hmm, seven worlds...

Let's lay it out this way and see what comes to mind:

1: forest village/ tutorial
2: ice world
3: dessert world
4: machine world
5:
6:
7:

Other world ideas: underwater, sky bound, mad house, fourth wall breaking, underground,

We know for a fact that the first world is the forest and tutorial, but the six other spots are open. You could have a progressive line up of each city getting more and more advanced in technology; so you could start with a forest village, then a desert town, and so on. Or, it could all be random; we're dealing with sci-fi so we could be hopping worlds that differ vastly between each other. I could definitely throw some ideas for the machine world though! :pinkiehappy:

5346994 Thanks. I think I need to start working on characters for each town soon. Then Maybe I'll start trying to create a world map. Also there's 8 worlds (I said there were 7 cities after the tutorial city which would be the forest one). I think I want the machine world to be the seventh world, then maybe the eighth could be like a mixture of the different worlds.

This is gonna be harder than I thought.

5349324 dude, i sat for days and weeks just planning out my story in my head, then in a word document on a computer filled with ideas of what i want to do, points i want to hit, references i wanted to make, and characters i wanted to make and include.

there's a reason it takes years to develop games of any size. we've got plenty of time.

except call of duty. they pump that shit out almost as often as EA puts out yearly updates of the same sport games; and they still somehow charge full $50-70 for just updates! its a goddamn monopoly... :pinkiegasp: :twilightangry2:

5350080 Agreed. I wrote that after I'd been sitting for a while trying to come up with ideas for characters and nothing was coming to me. I think I'm worried that if I let this get dormant then I'll lose interest.

5350120 nah, if your anything like me and your stuck, you'll let it sit in the back of your head turning itself over for a few days or so until you finally get another spark of inspiration then come back at it full force. that's what happened to me when i was thinking up conflicts and character personalities and design.

dont worry, this is a good project to not let it fall into nothingness. i've done that with too many ideas that i had when i was younger and now i finally decided to act on it and now i have a story that's almost bigger than all of the harry potter books and still have a ton more to go! keep going man! :rainbowdetermined2:

5350152 Hey I want to talk, but my internet has decided to be slower than a snail today (I wish I were joking), I'll come back later.

5359574 Hey, what's up man? What's goin' on?

Eon333MS

5360288 Not too much. You?

5361012 been working hard for my internship and still need to have two more chapter proofread before posting, but not too bad.

Sorry it took so long to reply; you tried messaging me at 6 in the morning and when I woke up at 7, I was running late for work. Lol

Eon333MS

5361498 It doesn't really matter to me when the reply comes, as long as it comes.

5361542 so what else is new with you?

Eon333MS
Group Contributor

5361571 Well there's some new transformers stuff I'm interested in.

5361576 what's transformers? Oh, you mean the blockbuster car porn! Lol

Eon333MS

5361584 I didn't mean the movies, if that's what your talking about. should we pm this?

Eon333MS
Group Contributor

5361584 We'll save this for discussing ideas about the game. Which I have a few new things.

5361649 probably best. So what are the new ideas?

Eon333MS
Group Contributor

Well, I'm trying to come up with lore for the world since the game's setting needs to be interesting to make the player want to explore. I've also written out a basic description of how the battle system will work.

Eon333MS
Group Contributor

5361695 I'll be back later tonight.

5362186 cool, you can explain more when you get back.

Eon333MS
Group Contributor

5362224 Sorry it took so long. Here's a description of the battle system (what I've got so far).

the battle system is similar to panzer dragoon saga

The player has a helmet that allows them to detect incoming dangers and how to avoid them.

Fighting: The player has two types of attacks, melee and ranged Melee has fewer areas to attack but deals heavy damage, can sometimes have an effect. Ranged attacks can attack the enemy from many positions can sometimes have an effect.

Effects: Melee can have positive or negative effects. For example the player may strike the leg of a monster causing it to trip and be vulnerable, or the player may attempt to strike the monsters hand only for the monster to catch and throw them back causing them damage. Ranged effects can have different effects on the enemy such as opening up a weak spot.

Movement: There is a grid of at least 4 by 3 rectangles each representing a position the player could be on during the fight. At the start the player will only be able to move one rectangle at a time (no diagonal movement) but this can be upgraded to four movements. When one of the rectangles is highlighted red it means the enemy is going to attack there. If the player chooses to defend themselves then they lose their remaining movement points for that turn. This can be used to strategically set yourself up to move into a safe location next attack if you don’t have enough movement points to move there this turn.

Rotation: You can move around the monster’s perimeter 90 degrees either left or right. This changes your perspective of the enemy and can open up new ways to attack them. However this may also change the way the monster attacks, its attacks could be stronger or weaker, and eventually the monster may rotate to face you again. This ability is not available at the start you must get an upgrade for your boots (village 2). You also cannot use movement points for the rest of the turn once you have rotated.

Jetpack: Similar to rotation this ability is acquired much later in the game (say the 4th village). This allows you to change perspective on the enemy while still remaining in front of them. You can rotate in the air as well. Once you activate this you cannot use movement points for the rest of the turn. Like rotation this can open up new areas to attack and usually limits the monsters attacks towards you.

Dragon: In the 5th village you can acquire a dragon which opens up two new ways of attacking. Dragon attacks and special attacks. Dragon attacks are what you’d expect the dragon breathes fire which adds a third method of attack it can focus on a target but the dragon must get close to attack it, so it’s like a mixture of melee and ranged. Special attacks: to be decided.

5362224 We'll talk tomorrow maybe, let me know if you have a creative idea for lore.

5362224 Hey anything to note?

5369079 sorry, right now i feel like i'm bouncing between 13 different ideas and plans and i'm having to play catch up on where i left off on each one.

i'm not sure about the combat system because i have never seen yet or seen it in action. i'll have to watch a few lets play videos on it and get a feel for it before i can comment on that. but from your description it sounds like an interesting idea; though, i'm not sure how a dragon would come into play if this is a sci-fi based adventure. the jetpack i can understand, you could probably have one stashed in the space ship somewhere and needed to get to a certain late-game village to have it repaired before using.

as for lore, umm, maybe you get a distress beacon or something and per protocol you track it down? or you could be a villager in the first village who wondered off and found this mysterious entity, go through the tutorial, then a space ship crash lands on the surface but somehow still in moderately to good working condition.

maybe that might give us a start on lore; or am i discribing the beginning of the game and not lore? im not really sure...

5369140 I was going to make the dragon an optional thing, but basically dragons are sort of like horses in the world, sure you could get a fancy hoverbike but nothing beats a good old-fashioned dragon. Especially with its firepower.

5320735 Hey do you mind if I discuss some ideas with you?

5378552 Sure, no problem. Although my wifi is a bit spotty.

Eon333MS
Group Contributor

5379089 Mine too. Right now I have two main problems that keep bugging me about the game. One is designing the layout/map of the world, and the other is creating characters in each of the towns. I want each town to have about eight characters that you're required to help out if you want the best ending, and I want to make it so the player wants to help these people without forcing it on the player. I also need to figure out what these tasks are and how to make them fun. That's probably the toughest part right now but if you have any advice I'd appreciate it. Or if you have any suggestions at all I'd appreciate it.
