We had a big influx and without our advertisment's then no ones joining. we need people to just mention this group to people who have similar interests.

Too much promotion might make us seem less 'noble', and more like 'attention seekers'. And I don't think attention seeking was the intent behind this group being made.

Of course, I could be totally mistaken about all of this, but that's just what I think.

Nothing comes to those who wait.
I advertised my group every chance I got, getting the other admins to agree to a link to it on the HiE group once I became an admin, placing a link to it in another group's comments that is basically the same group only the only admin has left the site, and it has over 600 members.
Being an attention whore gets you attention and gets you members.
