The last reports of B/Yamagata are from March of 2020. Measures against SARS-CoV-2, which causes CoViD-19 ended that Influenza-Season early. 4 species of Influenza infected humans. All of these Influenzas went into decline with masking, vaccination, elimination of entertainment, and social distancing.

Usually, 1 to 2 hundred million Americans catch Influenza annually. The USA did not have an Influenza-Season for the winter of 20220-2021, with less than a million infections.

With the easing of measures against the ‘Rona, ‘Flu’ remerged in winter of 2021-2022, except B/Yamagata was not present.

B/Yamagata still has not showed up anywhere in the world. It seems likely that B/Yamagata went extinct in 2020 or 2021.
