How visual are you when creating an OC? Do you see him, know what he looks like, first, or do you know his personality first?
Crimson: Just depends. I wanted to avoid the red and black idea with him. Only red he has is the mane and tail. So, I'd say pretty visual on some, but not all. As for Crimson, got his look down first. His personality goes with the flow of what happens.
4638346 I usually create personality first. If I find that an OC is important enough to have looks, then I'll tailor their looks to their role (such as Halo), or I'll use one of the pony makers so that I can decide on a color scheme and mane-and-tail style that I like.

With Dusk it was personality first. With Moonblast, it was both.

With my characters, it tends to be both at the same time.
