I find the subject most interesting when it's either a major source of culture clash for a HiE (Like in Oh to be Old Again, or to a lesser degree, Entirely Improbable) or it's otherwise a state of affairs that the main characters aren't happy with such as pronounced gender discrimination.

Not many of the stories appear to have gone that deeply into it though, such as just how such a society would react to attempts to change the status quo, though some ongoing ones look promising.
