Iroh Legoman
Group Admin

Name: Iroh Legomane (le-go-man; ‘e’ is silent, and sometimes not written down)

Nickname: Dragon of the East, or Eastern Dragon

Age: 20 (joined NLRN), 26 (Samus Island), 29-32 (BIG Dump), 32-35 (sub service), 37 (New Derby commissioning), 40 (CNO)

Gender: Male

Race: Pegasus

Mane color: Dirty blond with orange tips

Coat color: dark blue-almost navy

Affiliation: New Lunar Republic

Branch: Navy

Rank: Admiral O-9

Occupation: Chief of Naval Operations, CNO; former CO of LRS New Derby BBVN-62; former CO of several submarines; former crew member of the LRNS Sea Dart II T-513

Cutie Mark: a golden fleur-de-lis with a perched phoenix, a shield on the phoenix with stars and sunrays, and two stars by the outstretched wing tips. Later an anchor appeared behind the fleur-de-lis.

Cutie Mark meaning: The fleur-de-lis is a family emblem, always keeping with family; the phoenix is for coming back when down, plus the symbol of the Phoenix Scouts. The shield has a night sky with stars on the top third and sunrays on the bottom, symbolising the wonder of the night and the light of truth, a united Equestria, and duty to country. The stars symbol truth and knowledge (self-explanatory). Years later an anchor appeared behind the fleur-de-lis as he joined the Navy and excelled at his duties (as they came naturally).

Fighting style: As he is usually on the the bridge or CIC of a naval vessel, he is usually calculating and decisive, but as the situation grow, he becomes controlling. In dire desperation, he can become completely reckless, once taking four destroyers into the middle of two enemy battleship columns (20 ships); coming out victorious with devastating results. He personally carries several undisclosed modified weapons.

Personality: Iroh’s personality is quick, analytical, and clever minded; creative, versatile, original, and independent. He usually has large ambitions and is aggressive, causing loss of patients and prevents harmony and happiness in close association. Iroh’s leadership abilities and his ambitions causes him not to like subservient positions. He is usually self-confident and feels like he can do anything; he is happy when he is free to express and create, but is usually restricted by things like funding and cannot complete it to the fullest extent. There is a tendency for him to worry, and in desperation can become completely reckless.

Backstory:
Early Life:Iroh was born on the peninsula of New Derby, south of New Yoke and Manehatten, in a town called Flamingo, and was raised in the town of Bridge, by The Gardens, in the New/National Lunar Republic. At the age of three, he almost drown in the town lake. Years later he joined the Phoenix Scouts. While in the Phoenix Scouts, he found a fossil of an ancient tree, fell down a mountain, twice, 100 feet(hooves) apart, almost drowned as his raft was flipped by rapid waters, traveled 70 miles in less than a week, scared off an attacking ursa (minor), survived two weeks on a fly-ridden mountain, and got the highest award, The Phoenix Award. It was at the time of his award when he got his cutie mark.

Time in Seapony Cadets: After getting the Phoenix Award, he joined the Seapony Cadets, the naval version of the Phoenix Scouts. There he was assigned to the re-established LRNS Sea Dart II, an old cargo vessel. Being the oldest crew member and having more experience, he was immediately given the rank of Seapony Apprentice and given the position of Boatswain (crew member in charge of the crew). The crew was assembled the day they left on their first cargo run. The first week of run was tough, with an insubordinate crew member, Iroh getting sick, and two crew members on drugs. After the first month, the one crew member was transferred and the other two were reprimanded, and new members arrived. During their first winter, the CO poked a hole through the hull, causing a two month haul out in the summer. Iroh was their for the haul out and haul in, but was at training for the inbetween two month. During the haul in, Iroh almost lost his left foreleg as an unsecured door, slammed on to it. The two month haul out cut it close to a cargo run, leaving only a week to prepare. During the cargo run, the Sea Dart encountered 16-20 foot seas for five hours before turning to safety. The next year, Iroh was stranded in a bay for 30 minutes during a routine check of a barge when he was sent out to the barge to do preliminary check before the Sea Dart arrived, and his craft was capsized by a rough wave. During fleet week, a crew member with a guest was out on a small boat, when the crew member fell out in a sharp turn; with quick reactions and a look at crew member of the sister ship Sea Horse, Iroh and the other seapony jumped into another boat to save them. During the late summer run, he encountered and stopped a mutiny of a low moral crew, along with a tricky parking job, slow rolling seas (even the most experienced will get sick), and rescuing stranded crew members in a small boat when the boat broke. Later in the year, during a similar run as the one where he was stranded, crew members on the beach heard of two ponies lost in the bay when their para-sails broke, a search was coordinated by Iroh and the Officer of the Day from the Sea Dart. After retrieving one pony, and conflicting information on the second pony, the search was handed (hoofed) over to the Coasties. (It is unknown if they found the seconded pony of if he made it over to the other side from the currents). During that winter, Iroh got the anchor winch working, one of the many things on his repair list. However, during the start of the summer he left for training with the Lunar Navy.

Time in the Lunar Navy: (Note: Most of Iroh Legomane’s time in the Lunar Navy is still classified and cannot be told to the fullest extent)
Iroh Legoman was fifth in his graduating class from boot camp. He went to school for ship propulsion systems and was transferred to work on a new form of propulsion system. After five years as enlisted, he went to officer training school, where he became an Ensign. He quickly was promoted to Lieutenant (upper grade) and given command of a submarine tender in the Western Ocean, stationed at Samus Island, due to his experience with running cargo. During an enemy attack of the base the submarine tender was at, the naval force stationed there was able to fend off two attacks before the main enemy force arrived. With many commanding officers, dead, severely wounded, or cracked under the pressure, Iroh took the remaining four destroyers, leaving his tender, and charged straight into the oncoming enemy ships.

Battle of Samus Islands: The Samus Islands where a small group of islands that had little tactical value. The Lunar Navy set up a small submarine base there. The submarine base was also used as a training range for submarines. Old vessels, not worth scrapping, would be sent there to be sunk. It was also at the island where all scrapable part were taken off before being sent to be torpedoed. The force stationed there consisted of a few destroyers, a few cruisers, and two submarine tenders, with the occasional supply ship and submarines, along with the ‘ghost fleet’. The islands had one small landing ship, only big enough for two large helicopters to land.

After a few months of Iroh being stationed there, a submarine reported an enemy force heading in the area; the submarine was later found to be sunk by said force. The island’s combatant force, destroyers and cruisers, went out to fight the force. Of the ships that went out, only one destroyer and cruiser came back, severely damaged and not combat worthy. The next three days were full of naval bombardment from the enemy ships. During the bombardment, the radio tower, landing strip, command center, and half of the fuel supply were hit; both sub tenders were beach with one destroyed, and the two surviving ships scuttled in shallow waters.

With most of the commanding officers dead, wounded or in a mental break down from the impending doom, Iroh took command of the island’s forces. During the ending of the third day, a radio transmission was intercepted by Iroh’s sub tender and found that the attacking force left to regroup with the main attack force and to rearm in the west. With most of the island defenses destroyed as well as the readied fleet stationed there, the situation was looking desperate. In the act of it, Iroh ordered the use of the to be target vessels. The target vessels were four old destroyers that were delivered a week before and anchored away from the island, waiting to be scraped.

The destroyers were brought to the island and work to rearm them began. Whatever was easily fixed was fixed or jury-rigged, all available ammunition was loaded on with fuel. Whatever guns were salvageable were welded onto the decks where ever possible. Ever battle capable sailor was loaded onto the four destroyers. This was to be a last stand, and success was slim, Iroh and the rest off the ponies on the island knew it. During the night, they left to combat the enemy force.

Due to a storm, the main enemy attack force was delayed, this left the force that attacked the island to head back east to attack the island until the main force arrived. At dawn, the four destroyer were traveling west to intercept them. The enemy force was traveling in two column of twenty ships total: four battleships, four heavy cruisers, six light cruisers, and six destroyers. With The sun behind the four destroyers, Iroh, in what some called a desperate move, stupid move, suicidal, or sheer luck, sailed straight in between the two column. With the sun behind them, he enemy ships did not see them until it was too late. As they entered the enemy formation, all tartarus broke loose. Iroh in the lead destroyer launched both torpedo sets into the broadsides of the two lead battleship and raking their superstructures with everything they had, from the main armament, to the jury-rigged guns, to rifles.

Aftermath of the Battle off Samus Islands: Iroh’s lead destroyer was sunk along with the third destroyer. The second destroyer was hit badly, lost power and was abandoned, it was soon took into tow by the fourth destroyer, who was hit badly, but still able to run. Of the twenty enemy ships they attack, 2 battleships were sunk, 1 battleship heavily damaged, 1 battleship light/moderate damage, 3 heavy cruisers sunk, 1 heavy cruiser damaged, 2 light cruisers sunk, 3 light cruisers damaged, 4 destroyers sunk, 1 light cruiser and 2 destroyers got away unsacthed. The resulting losses, caused the rest of the ships to turn tail and run, and the main attack force never made it to the islands. Two days later relief came to the Samus Islands, and Iroh was considered a hero. Iroh was transferred back to the mainland where he earned the Lunar Cross, the highest award that could be given, for his heroic actions, and was promoted to Commander.

LNS Avalon and The BIG Dump: After a few months of celebrations, and recuperations, Iroh was transferred to Lunar Naval Station Avalon. There he met a mare and they fell in love. After being at LNS Avalon for a year, Iroh and another officer were in the forest mountains outside of the base for advanced survival training. After a long week of returning to base, they were a day out on a mountain side that faced looked over the base. During the night, they two officers were asleep when they heard an explosion. The woke up to find Avalon being bombed. The bombing lasted until morning. This action was called The BIG Dump, by how many bombs were ‘dumped’ onto LNS Avalon. The BIG Dump was followed by the Big Push, one of the biggest land invasions by the Solar Empire, and leaving the remainder of LNS Avalon behind enemy lines along with Iroh and the other officer.

Iroh and the other officer searched the base for anyone and anything. All they found was a lightly armored pick-up truck, unscathed, and damaged weapons that they were able to rebuild. for the next two years, behind enemy lines, Iroh put together a ragtag group of surviving soldiers and rescued POWs, under the callsign Avalon. They used hit and run tactics, and acquired and fixed equipment. After two years, from starting out with a truck, their force was up to a main battle tank, an armored personnel carrier, infantry fighting vehicle, a heavy tow truck, and several smaller vehicles. Toward the end of the two years, when Lunar forces were able to push back against the Solar held land, Avalon had established a base of operations with a runway and aircraft; two helicopters and five planes. After being rescued, Iroh was reported to have said: “I don’t think that anypony here would agree that we needed to be rescued.”

Returning to Sea: After his actions of The Big Push and Avalon, the then Captain Iroh Legoman was promoted to Rear Admiral, lower half, and given command of a submarine. After three years of submarine service he was transferred to command of the PUC New Derby BBVN-62 (PCU-Pre Commissioning Unit), and rank of Rear Admiral upper half. For two years, Iroh helped finish building the New Derby.

LRS New Derby: The New Derby was launched on Iroh’s birthday, and subsequently commissioned a year later on the same day. During the launching and setting to sea from the Fillydelphia shipyards, ship was given a three-shot salute from the LRS Olympia, the oldest surviving steel hull ship of the Lunar Navy. (Most of the operation of the LRS New Derby are still classified, and not available) Iroh held command for the next three years.

Chief of Naval Operations: After the of the scandal involving the top leaders of the New Lunar Republic and its military, the Lunar Navy was left without a commander. The Navy was left in control of the leaders of the other branches and neglected. After a year of neglection, Iroh was pushing for change and reform for the Navy and its command. Iroh was finally appointed to the position of Chief of Naval Operations, with the promotion of Admiral O-9.

Along with Admiral Iroh Legomane, General Root Beer has been promoted to Commandant of the Marine Corps, together these two will reform the Lunar Navy and Marine Corp, and bring it back to its full glory and naval might.

What about Marines stationed with the Naval fleet? :P
