Death, Life, God and Satan provide 'providence' over a human in Equestria as they wager on how he will interact with the native population.

Like the Greek gods, they can intervene in events or refrain from interfering. They can never influence events to such an extent that the human would not be able to overcome encountered impediments.

The human receives one gift from each of them:

God - Gave the human the ability to hear geographical landmarks but cannot speak with them; can talk to the weather but can't hear its responses.

Satan - Sent a Demon only capable to be seen by the human. Said demon must be an unbiased advisor or aid in learning a skill or language, he can lend his not all that great but still impactful powers through objects the human bounds the demon with.

Death - Gave the human the ability to interact with the dead.

Life - Protects the human from curses (not magic in general) and all illnesses.

sounds like you need an objective for the story, like an antagonist or something like that.
