We would probably love alicorns, even if there were tons of them in the setting. I've always enjoyed the combination of horns and wings. What is better than a unicorn or a pegasus? An alicorn! That's from a general stance, not necessarily the show.

And we like princesses.

I think the people who hate Twilight as an alicorn princess can't come to terms with how awesome all of that is. There are legitimate reasons to be concerned about what it all means, ad infinitum, but I think people who don't even want to give her a chance are the ones who can't allow themselves to revel in the unadulterated joy of alicorn princess love.

I mean, come on. There is a reason there are so many fan-made alicorn princesses!

I'm sure Hasbro just did it to sell more toys, but I don't mind. It's the same reason I love Cadance. If nothing else, it stopped them from making pink Celestia toys.

The only thing better is a stallion alicorn princess, IMHO. Those make me giddy.
