Oh definitely. Music helps tons with writing, helps set the mood.

I agree, it helps me picture what is going on in the story so far. The correct genre, tempo, volume, pitch, and overall 'feelings' affect which way my story turns, towards which way my mood and music changes the way I write as well.

Sometimes I write down a chapter or something and I'll write a short instrumental for it, expressing the pony's emotions through that particular piece.
Or it could go the other way around? I go back and forth. *squee*

my only regret about rush being my favorite band is that every bassline i right usaully sounds super positive and upbeat even though im in a very serious thrash metal band
