Yeah I don't know if anyone here still checks this but...what the hell I posting one of my old ideas that I sadly cannot write because im far too busy. But I could co-author it or be an editor if someone else is willing to make this story their own.

This idea was born from how ive seen a lot of crossovers with Mass Effect and X-com, but none ever with Xenonauts.......I haven't even found one Xenonauts story to be honest.

Xenonauts (which I like to call the more realistic Xcom sometimes) deals with an alien invasion during the ending phase of the cold war and the NATO and Warsaw Pact nations (along with China, India, some South American Nations and some middle Eastern nations like Israel and Egypt) banning together to fund this pseudo mercenary group who have their best soldiers and scientists heading off to fight the alien invasion and keep it from causing mass panic. Through unlike in Xcom it is kind of public knowledge that the aliens are attacking.

*2 idea off the top of my head*

Idea 1: The Batarians want to expand their slavery operations as well as to gain some new worlds (since in canon of ME the Alliance territories were in planned space for the Batarians to eventually colonize. So they happen upon a small barely advanced world and plant to conquer and enslave it. But they don't want to risk the council slamming its fist down on them for these horrible crimes so instead of mobilizing a full armada they trickle their forces in slowly to not raise suspicion.

But this also has the added effect of giving the Xenonauts time to adapt the technology and even improve upon it. (*cough* Star Wars program *Cough* lasers *cough*) And soon a new galactic power enters the stage/ In the form of the Terran Alliance with the Xenonauts, a pro Human mercenary force with loyalties only to Earth being kept like a guard dog on a long leash.

Idea 2: The Council races have been at war with The Praetors, a race of powerful psychic beings with advanced technology and a massive clone army, for many years. They're locked in a constant back and forth stalemate though eventually the Praetors will win due to having the ability to clone their forces faster than the Council races can replenish their own loses.

So one day during one of the many war meetings for the Citadel council, the Salarian council member brings up an STG report from several years ago, revealing how the Salarians have secretly been in contact with the Human race and the planet Earth for a while. (It was a Salarian ship that crashed on Earth at Roswell New Mexico and our rescue/ humane treatment of the only survivor put us in a slightly good position with them. Plus they like our food.)

The end result of the meeting is that the council plans to use Earth as a distraction for Praetor forces by letting it slip that a newly discovered garden world exists with a high population and little technology, knowing it will be a juicy world for the Praetors to conquer. But the council plans to do to Earth like the CIA did with Afghanistan against the Soviet Union.

They send us some technology to help us as well as specialists in the form of Spectres and STG agents since the Salarians already have a dialogue open with the US government and know we would trust them more and vouch for them to the other Earth nations.
