Well now may be a good time to ask, what sort of era ships are we taking our examples from.
As in, are we using WW1 - Current eraships, or colonial cannon ships.

1897860 the stuff I posted in the airship design thread. And a few more I'm in the process of developing.

Enemies will have big fast airships with a few heavy cannons. Those are being designed unless you want to try.

The combat system will be a version of Gurps adapted for ship combat in the air. There will be boarding and Air squadrons. It will take place on a big hex map I will keep track of and post pics of.

Admirals will assign combat commands such as go to this area and attack here. They will also have their own few ships to command diretly.
