Grogar Sass ( Canon New Gen Redesign)

Demonlord Grogar (Epic Fanon)

Grogar is an evil Demonic Ram Necromancer and the leader of a kingdom named Tambelon, who once ruled Ponyland with an iron fist 500 years ago before he was defeated when the ancient bell was rung, banishing him and the city to the Shadow World. He then returned to Ponyland 500 years later, capturing all the Unicorn Ponies one by one and plans to capture everyone in Dream Valley to be banished to the Shadow World. He has a cold and antagonistic personality, always scolding Bray for his mistakes and sometimes abuses the Troggles so they can follow his orders and do what he wants. Grogar's powers come from the bells on his neck, and he has superior magic skills even far beyond any Unicorn Pony that ever existed. Grogar was defeated again by Megan after she rang the ancient bell for the second time, banishing him and the whole city back to the Shadow World.

Beay (Grogar's main minion)

Bray is a sneering donkey-like creature, who first appeared delivering the unicorns their disgusting meal and then reports to Grogar, the Ruler of Tambelon Megan has seen in her dreams. He is always loyal to Grogar but sometimes getting scolded by him when he makes mistakes.

Tirek (New Gen Redesign)

Tirek is a demon with elements of a centaur. He resides in the forbidden Midnight Castle alongside his minions and his servant/slave Scorpan, who he orders to kidnap the ponies of Dream Valley to execute his evil scheme.

Tirek wields the Rainbow of Darkness, a powerful sack containing evil magic which corrupts everything it touches. It can even turn the ponies he captured into evil dragons which were used to pull his "Charriot of Darkness" and execute the event called the "Night that Never Ends", on which he will use the Rainbow of Darkness to corrupt Dream Valley and plunge it into chaos. When Tirek takes off in his Chariot of Darkness, Megan grabs the satchel containing the rainbow of darkness, but can't hold on to it. As he was about to release the Rainbow of Darkness, Megan opens the locket to reveal the Rainbow of Light. But it's only a small piece that is soon enveloped in darkness. But the Rainbow of Light starts fighting back, and eventually overpowers the Rainbow of Darkness.

The Smooze (canon)

King Smooze (Fanon)

Assimilation Snooze (Fanon)

Great Devourer Smooze (Fanon)

The Smooze was a gargantuan slime-monster and the secondary antagonist of My Little Pony: The Movie - which took place in Generation 1 canon, making it very different from the current series and more in line with what modern audiences associate Care Bears or other "kid-friendly" cartoons to be.

The Smooze was nevertheless a genuinely terrifying being, especially giving the setting it was in - with the ability to grow to gargantuan sizes it spread across all of Ponyland (the old version of Ponyville) and buried anything (living or not) in its path, completely ruining the land and turning once paradise-like fields and castles into barren wastelands - it also threw chunks of itself around that when attached to living beings turned them "mean" and "grumpy" (which despite the childish language is actually a more dangerous threat than one might think as removing living creatures' ability to care about each other can lead to apathy and despair (also without the ability to care for other beings people often develop sociopathic tendencies) ).

The Smooze was semi-sentient, able to form hands and faces but only able to express rage and malice - with animalistic roars and grunts (as well as limited speech (see trivia) ) - the ponies were originally powerless to stop the beast after the witch Hydia released it, with even the Rainbow being ultimately overwhelmed by the Smooze's power.

Larry (AKA Shadowfright)

Larry, who prefers the nickname Shadowfright, is the main antagonist of the second arc.
Shadowfright leads the Nightmare Forces. Their origin is not revealed, but they joined with or possibly even created Nightmare Moon (possibly the outside force who magnified Luna's jealousy and bitterness to transform her, although the TV series may yet reveal a different villain to be this force). They told her what to do to get ponies to fear her, and she promised them a kingdom of their own. When the Mane 6 used the Elements of Harmony to restore Luna and destroy the evil in her, Luna thought the Nightmare Forces would wither and die without her. Instead they went to the moon where they would be granted one more chance through the cycle of the new moon.

In Issue 5, the Nightmare Forces gave the Mane 6 nightmares, and captured Rarity, taking her to the nightmare dreamscape on the moon. In Issue 6, Shadowfright was successful in turning Rarity into their new queen, Nightmare Rarity (hinted at being possessed by the spirit of the original Nightmare Moon). He and his minions gave the other ponies nightmares as they traveled to the moon to rescue Rarity, but were pulled out of the nightmares by Spike and Luna. Shadowfright, hinting at a secret Luna kept from everypony, tried to convince her to become Nightmare Moon again. She declined, and Shadowfright revealed Nightmare Rarity.

In Issue 7, Shadowfright was defeated by Rainbow Dash when she caused him to crash, but he recovered and nearly captured Luna, but Twilight zapped him with a magic spell allowing Luna to escape before Shadowfright captured Rainbow Dash, while his minions captured the others. When his sidekick lost the key to the dungeon, Shadowfright sent him to find it. Later, both trapped Spike with their tails when he entered the Nightmare Forces' castle.

In Issue 8, Shadowfright destroys Spike's Fire Ruby before he and his army attack Ponyville, but with the help of Twilight and the others, Luna destroyed the Nightmare Forces and decorrupted the moon creatures they were possessing. Shadowfright was a corrupted or possessed birdlike creature who, once restored to his true form, prefers to be called Larry.

Shadowfright has the appearance of a dark ghost, but is bigger and darker than his minions. He also gets angry whenever they call him Larry. The first time one of them does this, he grabs him by the throat; the second time, he raises a hammer above his head. However, Nightmare Rarity only calls him Larry, and he does not react when she does so.

Nightmare Rarity (AKA Beautiful Nightmare, Infestatia, or Nightmarity) [I shit you not, this is canon]

Alternate Color Scheme w/ armor

Anthro Nightmare Rarity

Humanized Nightmare Rarity

“ It's true, your powers defeated me before, little ponies, but what will you do now that i've taken one of you? Without all of you, your Elements of Harmony are powerless." ~ Nightmare Rarity telling Twilight Sparkle and the rest of her friends that they can't use the Elements of Harmony because Rarity became corrupt by the Nightmare Forces.

Nightmare Rarity is the secondary antagonist in second arc (sometimes called the Nightmare Arc) of the My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic comic series.

Arabus (Canon)

Alternate Design

Arabus is a malevolent Cloud Demon whose intention is to devour everyone's shadows to give him strength. He met Knight Shade in the village grayvale one day, and promised he will boost his career and make him a star. Arabus indeed drew almost the entire village to Knight Shade's next concert, stealing all their shadows, including that of Knight Shade's mother, and used them to turn himself into a powerful cloud of magic. Since then, Knight Shade has toured to increasing success, stealing ever more shadows for Arabus, hoping to keep his own shadow long enough to figure out a way to stop Arabus. While hunting for shadows, Arabus calls to Megan to come out of hiding, and she steps up, announcing that she has a surprise for him. A vast army of Flutter Ponies, brought by Molly and Lofty, fills the skies, circling Arabus and blasting him with their Utter Flutter. Unable to withstand the onslaught, Arabus grows smaller and smaller, and the shadows he contains fly out, seeking their original owners, both he and Zeb were place in prison.

Catrina

Catrina is a Humanoid Feline Witch. Catrina herself is a powerful witch who is dependent upon the Witchweed potion, which is the source of her power. She holds the Bushwoolies her slaves and forces them to make the potion for her. After the Bushwoolies escaped, she then planned on kidnapping the ponies to be her new slaves. But ends up kidnapping Baby Moondancer along with the Rainbow of Light to convince the Bushwoolies to go back for her. She was defeated by Rex and later redeemed herself of her bad ways by destroying the machine that produces the Witchweed Potion.

Rex

Rex is a Shape Shifting Lizard and Katrina's assistant. Unlike Katrina, he understands the Bushwoolies, who were being fed up with Katrina's orders and tells them to stay. He can turn himself into any form he wishes and even use it as a disguise to blend in. He later on helped Megan and the ponies defeat Katrina and later redeemed themselves in the end.

King Charlatan

King Charlatan is the main antagonist of "Baby, It's Cold Outside" - episodes 41-42 of the original My Little Pony series, although starting off as a dark and evil tyrant with ambitions to rule the world (and even expressing genocidal thoughts) he would later redeem himself due to his love for his son.

When first introduced King Charlatan is quick to show himself as an antagonist, to the point of stating that he wished all non-penguin species to be eradicated as he used his magical stare to freeze the surrounding Ponyland, with aims of spreading his influence across the entire world.

Despite King Charlatan's seemingly evil mindset his young son was quick to try and reason with his father, alongside his friend (who was a duck and thought of as "weak" by King Charlatan) - sadly attempts to reason failed and King Charlatan froze his son's friend in ice as a show of power.

Due to this his son would aid the ponies after they were captured by King Charlatan's guards and tried to help them stand up to him, only to be frozen himself - however after freezing his own son King Charlatan slowly begins to realize the errors of his ways (aided by a song entitled "How Can You Be So Cold?" sung by Megan and the ponies) and gives up on his previously cruel mindset in order to be a better father (and by extension a better ruler).

Lavan

Alternate Version

Lavan is a villain in the 1986 My Little Pony cartoon series, a malevolent lava demon who kidnaps the Princess Ponies and steals their magic wands, since they contain all the magic in Ponyland. He tried to use them to transform himself into an all-powerful crystal being. At first it didn't work, instead upsetting the balance of Pony Land. He then kidnapped the six Princess Ponies (except Princess Tiffany who flew away) and ordered his minions to throw the Princess Ponies into a lava pit, but they escaped. Lavan began his crystal transformation but was informed by his henchman Sludge that they escaped. Lavan attacked him, and later found Spike, the Princess Ponies, and his enemy Gnash, and imprisoned them in the dungeon, from which they were released by Sludge, who was tired of Lavan's abuse. While Lavan's abuse of the wands began turning Pony Land to crystal, Lavan completed his crystal transformation. When the Princess Ponies found the wands, drained of power, Lavan attacked them, but they escaped after Princess Tiffany and Megan arrived. They found the Heart of Pony Land, which was used to recharge the wands, but Lavan attacked them. Sludge knocked him into the lava, from which he re-emerged only to be frozen by Gnash. By the time he broke free, the Princess Ponies had their wands back. Working together, they used their magic to send Lavan's rainbow beam back at him, destroying him.

Crunch the Rock Dog

Crunch the Rockdog is the main antagonist of "Crunch the Rockdog" - Episode 43-44 of the G1 series "My Little Pony 'n Friends". Crunch was a gigantic monster similar to a golem but fashioned in the style of a bulldog with humanoid hands - long ago he served as the guardian of a mystical gem known as the Heart Stone, which was situated deep within a living mountain who created Crunch specifically for this task.

Unfortunately Crunch was created without the ability to feel emotions (other than perhaps hate) thus he grew brutish and cruel, using his magic to pursue anything he saw as "soft" or "nice" and petrifying it whilst laying waste to the land around himself.

In the end Crunch is defeated by the Heart Stone and given a small shard of the gem, which allows him to feel emotion again and he becomes a peaceful being as his victims are restored to their former selves after his curse is broken.

Queen Bumble

Queen Bumble is the main antagonist of The My Little Ponie Movie 2: The End of Flutter Valley.

Queen Bumble is the ruler of Bumbleland, a place located somewhere in Flutter Valley in which all the bees live after their exile. She usually has a cold personalty and hated the Flutter Ponies for dumping her and her people in the freezing land and decided to work with Hydia to steal the Sunstone and use it's power to direct the sun to allow plants and flowers to grow in Bumbleland, also slowly destroying Flutter Valley in the process. But she didn't knew that the Sunston can destroy her land due to too much heat, causing a fire that would burn everything in its path. In the end, she and the bees tried to reclaim the Sunstone from the Flutter Ponies, but Sting tries to stop Bumble. Rosedust intervenes and offers that if Bumble leaves the Flutter Ponies alone, she can come to Flutter Valley and take flowers anytime. She agrees, and Sting returns to Bumbleland with her and the other bees.

Zed

Zeb is a Greedy Manager of Knight Shade, who is working with Arabus, he employs giant rats to do his dirty work. He usually collect shadows using a strange machine and collects them in his satchel. The Flutter Ponies help the Little Ponies by getting Arabus to chase them, overexerting himself until he used up all his energy. As Zeb tries to recapture the shadows, an army of Greyvaleans surrounds him, placing him in shackles.

Squirk

Squirk was the main antagonist of the Generation 1 My Little Ponies episode "The Ghost of Paradise Estate" - he was a giant, vaguely humanoid octopus that once ruled an underwater kingdom when much of the world was under the ocean.

Squirk was a horrible ruler, a tyrant who reveled in cruelty - utilizing the magic of the Flashstone amulet he amused himself with senseless acts of villainy and earned much hatred and fear from those who suffered under his rule. Squirk would remain the unjust ruler of the underwater world until eventually the ocean began to fade away as Dream Valley began to take form - at this point magical birds known as the Pannas arrived looking for a new home.

Squirk didn't want to share his land with the Pannas and rose from the depths to terrorize them with the Flashstone but their leader refused to allow Squirk to bully him into leaving and fought the monster - taking the Flashstone amulet and shattering it into two pieces. One half was thrown into the deepest ocean and the other was tossed to what would later become Paradise Estate, Squirk retreated into the ocean but refused to come out until his enemy had grown old and weak, Squirk was immortal and thus knew better than to risk another fight until the odds were in his favor.

Princess Porcina

Porcina is a villain in the 1986 My Little Pony series, and is a pig princess that uses magic. She needs material to replace her magic cloak, which is all but worn out. She uses its magic to turn things into glass, as she's obsessed with her own reflection. The Raptorians work for her with the promise that they'll soon receive their own kingdom, and steal some washing. Porcina deems the washing to be useless and tells the Raptorians to find something better.

They capture Gusty, Heart Throb, and Lickety-Split to use their hair to make her cloak. Porcina receives her new cloak, and happily turns the Paradise Estate and every other non-living thing in Ponyland to glass, much to the Little Ponies' horror. The chief Raptorian praises her efforts, but suggests that it might be even better if every creature in Ponyland also bore her reflection. She agrees, and casts a second spell, turning every Little Pony in the Paradise Estate to glass. Shady, Molly, Megan, North Star, Paradise, Magic Star, and the Bushwoolies made a fake cloak in hopes of switching with the real one, only for the Raptorians to catch onto them.

1879344 I have my own headcanons concerning Grogar (he's a goat, actually), Tirek (a Sagittarius, very rare), the smooze, arabus, and lavan (arabus, lavan, and shoggoths are subspecies of Smooze), King Charlatan (the first penguin to break the peace treaty with Equestria), the Bumbles (made them more insect-like), Squirk, the Raptorians (diamond dog relatives) and Crunch (already made a thread about it, read it).

I touched on my headcanon for Tirek and Grogar in my stories Peace at Last and The Princess's Mistake.

the rest do not exist.

I see no reason not have a list of villains here. It's up to the Author if they uses them or not, and its always good to get reminded of something, one might have forgotten. :pinkiecrazy:
But do keep the Cannon and Fanon information separate, of course.

All of them?!:rainbowderp::pinkiegasp: That's going to be interesting.:raritystarry:

4548989 Just about, and i promise i'll post the story in this group when it's done!

I envision Arabus (or renamed "Erebus", similar to Tirec into Tirek) being the pony of shadows, or at least it's given name, mainly because of irony (his original self steals shadows, his new incarnation is a shadow.) I imagine him and his crew (Knight Shade, Zeb, Zed, and who knows what else working with or fro him)acting like kingdom hearts' organization XIII for some reason. Similarly, Gorgar will be powered by a bell that has to be destroyed instead of simply using the bell to defeat him outright
