While it is nice seeing B.E.F and German soldiers trading pictures, playing football (soccer in the U.S) and singing carols together, they'd have to eventually go back to killing eachother.

Not really, by 1944 most units surrendered to the Western Allies, the battle of the bulge was a last ditch attempt orchestrated primarily by fanatical SS units, not regular army units who mostly surrendered. In fact, many German units fought their way TOWARDS western allied forces to surrender, knowing that they wouldn't be punished for their war-crimes if they surrendered to the Western Allies.

Yup, and some preferred to surrender to Americans or the like rather than the Russians. Some even tried to end the war sooner knowing they had lost, like the Nazi officer who tried to table bomb Hitler. Or the Battle of Castle Itter.

Speaking of, I legit knew a guy thought WW2 was from 1914-1918. Also, apparantly there were other, smaller moments like the Truce, but yeah, it is a shame.

What are you talking about? On my screen it says 1914. Is it a glitch or something?

The July 1944 bomb plot against Hitler.

it said 1944 when it was posted but now it says 1914

or Heinrich Himmler

I legit shed a few tears every time I watch a movie clip showing the truce. The ww1 video game, Verdun actually does have this every year around Christmas. Instead of rifles, you throw snowballs at eachother, play football and I think you can even sing carols together.

Huh. Well, the important thing is its been fixed. But I dont ever remember accidentally typing 44. I swear.Maybe from a distance 1914 looks a lot like 1944.

That is awesome. I also remember, on Armistice Day, in BF1, players legit try not to kill eachother.

honestly the Christmas truce isn't really that...…lets say....impressive when you look at the date it took place on.

3 months into the war, one of the earliest events before it became the long bloody affair and horrible affair it is known as. the soldiers hadn't really been fighting heavily, no chemical weapons had been used the general horrors of that war hadnt really happened yet.

while the event is nice and an interesting fact of the war it really doesnt live up to the hype people give it do to how early it is as these people hadnt reached the point of seeing each other as some one who must be defeated at all costs.
