Hi guys! So, this is what I was wondering: Are self-inserts always a bad thing?
I mean, as long as you don't make yourself as Mary Sue, what's wrong with writing a story where you yourself go to Equestria? I'd love to write about my reactions and everything if I landed in Equestria. Would that be a bad story?

I dont' see it as a bad thing, if its done well. Going by feedback on mine, it seems the best strategy IS "Dont be a Mary Sue. Mix setbacks equally with success. If you cant dodge a trope, do your best to set the bar for it."

As long as its done properly, then it can be done. I see nothing wrong with Self-Inserts, just try to avoid the tropes of Mary/Gary Sues and such.
