Oh man, don't even get me started on this story. There's so much going on in it.

Massive references to the hero's journey (not that that is surprising), an exploration of the idea of the loss of innocence, motherhood (Fluttershy arc), family, earning one's own way, death VS "madness" (the rejection of death/mortality)...
