On Saturday September 30th, 2023... Santa Fe 2926

and her tool car aka NMSX 3939

will back on up from their restoration site/World Headquarters at 8th Street in Albuquerque

and travel down the same stretch that 2926 did when she visited the Tractor Brewing Company on May 6th and August 26th. :)

From there then comes the best part: Santa Fe 2926 and her tool car will exit out of the spur where the restoration site is on and step onto the Mainline, of which for 2926 shall be the first time since 1956! :D :yay:

Of course the mainline in question is the route that 2926 and her sisters have traveled over many times: Santa Fe's original Mainline, aka the Northern route or Passenger Main, via over Raton and Glorieta Passes! :)

Anyways... once on the mainline, 2926 and her tool car will continue to back up along the mainline as they will pass by the Amtrak Albuquerque Station aka the Alvarado Transportation Center

and soon reach the destination for this weekend: The New Mexico Rail Yards! :D

which is in fact the old Santa Fe Shops there! :)

Now the reason why 2926 and her tool car is visiting that place where 2926 and her sisters were worked on day in and day out? Well...

She will be participating in an event called New Mexico Rail Days, of which one of the highlights will be of course 2926 taking part in a Night Photo Session on Saturday night! :D

The next day on Sunday October 1st, 2023... once the event is finished, then 2926 and her tool car will retrace the same route from of course yesterday. In other words... from the New Mexico Rail Yards back to the restoration site/World Headquarters on 8th street.

So all in all... who here is ready for 2926's first mainline run since 1956?!! :D :D :yay: :yay:

I am! 2926 is ready to hit the high iron!! Next tup she’ll be ready to pull her excursion trip over Raton Pass and maybe next year team up with Santa Fe 3751 on a doubleheader trip from Albuquerque to the Santa Fe’s old mainline in Clovis, NM.

Heh, let's hope so. ^^

Since 2926 is a heavy northern type she was made for heavy freight and passenger trains. In fact I think 2926’s last assignment before retirement was pulling freight or passengers over Raton Pass.
