To provide some context: Union Pacific Freight MCHNP (which stands for Manifest Chicago, IL to North Platte, NE) ended up stalling on Blair Hill in Nebraska.

And wouldn't you know it.... 4014 was right behind that stalled freight train as the Big Boy was beginning the return trip back to Cheyenne, Wyoming after staying in Omaha, Nebraska for the NCAA Baseball College World Series! So of course the following decision was made to have 4014 couple on to the back of the MCHNP and of course push it up and over Blair Hill. :)

Let's just say two things:

1. This harkens back to of November 4th, 1996 of which 844 was able to push a 11,620 ton freight train over the top of Archer Hill when it ended up stalling well before the summit. :)

2. With all the statistics to keep in mind with 4014 (aka... 1.2 Million Pounds, 600 Tons, and 7,000 Horsepower), the ground was obviously trembling as 4014 shoved hard while pushing on the rear of the Manifest! :D :yay:

Well this proves that she still has it. Maybe one day she can do something similar to what 3985 did with those 143 cars, it could happen someday.

He ya mean. ^^'

But Of course =3

Anyways... I was able to learn that the MCHNP had about 146 cars total, which is of course just three cars more than what 3985 pulled back in 1990! :D

And what's more... when counting the tonnage behind 4014's tender, in actuality being 3985's tender (not counting the Auxiliary Water Cars and SD70M Helper Locomotive No. 4015), Big Boy 4014 was pushing and pulling about 153 CARS TOTAL!!! :D :D :D

They can still go toe to toe with the diesels of today. 3985 proved it back in the 1990's, and 4014 showed it with what she did in this video. Hopefully the video also gets just as many videos as the 3985 views pulling those 143 cars.

Wow once again steam proves its might as 4014 shoves a freight over a hill. You can imagine what would be like if 4014 was pulling the train instead of pushing it. The stack talk and deep chuffing as it slugs it out with a heavy freight.

Got that right =3

Yep and shows UP management that steam still has what it takes to get the job done.

Kinda like an American version of Super Rescue, but much more epic, lol

Steam power will ALWAYS have a place in the world

Indeed for sure on that. ^^
