Instead of making a post, you can add the story to a folder in the group. Then people who have asked to get notified of new stories will get notified of it, and people who've asked not to be notified of stories, won't be.

I don't know if there are rules on how to add a story... I didn't see any, but you'd better double-check the forum first.
