Don't have a reddit account... If I remember, Lauren Faust said that Zecora was supposed to be a Zebra from Earth that got teleported to Equestria by the Everfree and gained sapience from Equestria.

The HiE we really deserve!

Zecora and AJ not evolving too much are really the only two developments we really lost out on when faust left imo
