The BT Anniversary and the MT File

Dear Readers (including Mizkif, who no doubt has a well-concealed account here. We know you do. Let the herd embrace you):

I have been writing, but not a great deal. Most of my fics being done for Quills N' Sofas are pretty much one-shots by design. I have a longer project (a decidedly non-pony science fiction novel), but only so much writing time during any given day.

Most of that writing time is devoted to my day job, which is the practice of law. Ironically, the day I discovered this "little fandom thing of ours" was a day that I was supposed to be studying for a bar exam. Had it been just that, I suppose I would have left the fandom long ago. But I started hanging out on a few pony sites, one of which was BerryTube.tv. Which was, and still is a drinking site with a pony problem. And as it turns out, I started making friends over this silly site about alcohol and equines.

And thank God for it, because for the next ten years those friends - who I did not count as real friends for the longest time - would be there during some of the saddest and loneliest years of my life. They were the ones who convinced me that I should come to Everfree Northwest and meet people IRL. Which is how I found out about FIMFiction and Speedwriting and all the rest. They helped me come to terms with death and loss. They helped me finally unpack baggage that I'd been carrying around for a very long time. They were some of the first people I told that I needed to get the hell out of where I was and get to someplace better - geographically and mentally.

This weekend BerryTube is celebrating its 11th Anniversary. 72 straight hours of streaming, probably the new G5 ep (Spoiler Alert: "WHAT DID YOU DO TO THE WORLD???"), G5 and G4 stuff, music, pony vids, anthologies, the BTNomicon (basically our very own Fight Club), and probably a bunch more.

I'm going to be there. With all my friends. And if you want to come join us, you are always welcome.

Things like this are indeed how the Magic Of Friendship Grows.

Various and Sundry: My Iron Author story ("The Origin Of A Species") is being worked on. Well, specifically, some cover art I had commissioned for it. The story itself has gone through some editing. Some parts of it have been expanded, others changed, but just slightly.

I have some other stories sitting on GDocs, some are being edited, some... well, I notice that some authors here literally have just a placeholder entry where they post short works that don't meet the length limit. (The fact that there's a length limit here irks me sometimes. Flash Fiction is a thing, and it's much better than old Brad.) I might start putting them up there.

I'm going to make these entries a weekly thing, or try to. If you've got any questions, I s'pose I can answer them too.
