I just realized after rewatching Episode 11 of Season 2, that Equestria was founded upon the bases of three different forms of government. Those three forms being Monarchism, Militarism, and Federalism. But before I explain why, I must ask you to cast your mind back to the Three Tribes prior to the foundation of Equestria.
The Unicorns were lead by Princess Platinum... A PRINCESS. And what form of government uses a Princess? A monarchial one... Perhaps even an absolute one. For it seems she has a direct control over her Unicorn subjects. A monarchial society (such as what the entirety of Europe once had prior to Napoleon.)
The Pegasi were lead by Commander Hurricane. And with this, they are lead strongly by the military. (Perhaps like Prussia)
And as for the Earth Ponies, they are lead by Chancellor Puddinghead... A CHANCELLOR! I may be wrong here, but to my belief, a government such as what Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy has, use Chancellors. And they share pretty similar federalistic traits.
And since the Three Tribes created Equestria, it was founded upon three different political bases. I may just be rambling here, but it is quite interesting to think of. Do kindly correct me if I'm wrong.
No, you're quite right. I had stumbled upon that same realization too when I was researching bits for my own story. It really gives some interesting ideas how to expand and explore those types of political intrigue.
