So Celestia grew on me to an unreasonable degree when I returned to the fandom. When I first started FiM I greatly disliked the princess of the sun. She seemed so useless. Losing to Chrysalis, doing nothing against Tirek, getting turned to stone in the movie. YOU'RE THE RULER OF EQUESTRIA, DO SOMETHING!!! I realized when I came back that it was all just poor plot devices for the sake of the Mane 6. I really fell in love with Tia after I gave her the benefit of the doubt. Into the Depths and Lost and Found really helped with her ascension in my eyes. With my story I'm really trying to paint my vision of who Celestia really is. A loving sister, mentor, and ruler who never gives up. The best way I figured I could illustrate this was through conflict with the one pony she loves that's she's never come to blows with. Hopefully she shines brighter to some people once the story is done.
What I noticed about Celestia is that many people love - or at least, used to love - to portray her as the fallen hero who breaks and becomes a tyrant. The story that inspired me to write my first story here also does this. I felt sorry for Tia for how often she's portrayed as the bad guy even if I'm a big fan of the fallen hero trope. Just for once I wanted her to be the pure and caring protector she's supposed to be. So I switched her and Twilight's roles from that story and made her the bad guy that Celestia had to defeat, just like you did.

Oh that's crazy. I've seen what you mean by tyrant Celestia quite a bit. After considering Luna's banishment at length I really feel like Celestia is one of the most tragic misunderstood heros in the series I'll definitely have to check out your story when I get w chance.
