Starting Next month, I'll have something in the works. I haven't decided yet, but I will soon; Based on the #'s It will be one of the three. I MEAN IT THIS TIME! I'm gonna actually work on a story! My first story is still in the works but not forgotten. And the Xcom one... I'll just make it a sort series instead.
As a matter of fact: I'll ONLY do short stories. If I did a full-blown story, I wouldn't know how to get past 4 chapters. I'm not good at world building, I'm not good at well thought out stories. I only know how to do short stories but given if I think my idea has enough merit to it, it can continue.
I don't know how long this may take, but I'm willing to Do the Do and commit.
Well, it's very commendable of you that you seem to have cheered up and got inspired.
About myself, I can say something else. On the contrary, I don't know how to write short stories.

Thanks, in return, I'll give you some advice; Even with what little knowledge I have.
To make short stories effective, you need Creativity. You don't need to have a plot, you don't even need to be fancy (I myself prefer to be), Sometimes It doesn't need to even be creative; It can just be an Idea. Either start with one or make one that gradually gets better as you're typing/writing. And sometimes... it can be purely Ambition.
If I could, I'd give you an example of a short story I wrote when I was a junior, but that account has been suspended due to graduating.
All I can tell you, is to do what you like and expand your thinking. It could be anything you want it to be, but specifically here it has to include mlp along said short story.
But that's the way I see it for short stories. Just creativity, ideas, and ambition.
